Could we have more moderating of the F1 area please

I enjoy the banter although I've reduced my consumption of Fchat F1 due in large part to the migraine inducing Hamilton drivel since the arrival of toil, but that is my issue. All members should be allowed to voice their opinions ad nauseam regardless of the topic and the Usual Suspects can determine for themselves whether their participation in a thread is an exercise in futility. Not everyone has had the ability to explore F1 prior to the Hamiliton era, I believe tolerance is the high road.

 

Dear El Wayne, as an example of the drivel factor in this forum, I refer you to the recent Hungary race thread which when I last checked had reached 45 pages in length, the vast majority of which I believe breaches your rule 1.2 above. What action do you propose to take?

Your including me in your post makes me question whether the post alert system is working.

If it is,… did you read it? If you did,… why imply I did not.

 

I alerted the hungary race thread as well. Are you denying that?

Seems like you are more interested in posting untruths about me, than moderating a section.

 

It generally doesn't bother me. It did bother me that the Hungary race thread (best race of the year by far) went that way. I just stopped reading it : (

I have no problem with people taking polite little jabs at each other or whatever, but seems a little overwhelming recently.

 

Simon, please calm down and try not to take Wayne's passing comments personally. I happen to know that Wayne was not available and not paying attention to Fchat for this last week and only now had time to check in to what's been going on. So your /!\ on 7/26 was not something he would have seen. As far as other mods in F1, there's basically Andrew, Mike, Tillman and Rob. I'm listed, but I'm not very active these days.

The reality is that Rob has actually cut back on mods on the site by about 50% and has been relying on a handful to take care of the entire site, with an extended group of mods that take care of a few special sections. This means that these 4 or 5 people are not going to be able to review every post and even many threads, hence Wayne's comment about how important using /!\ is. This thread has now gained attention for the F1 forum and we're reviewing users and posts and we're looking to do something more proactive. So let's focus on what that is, rather than unintended slights.

The problem is we don't quite have a rule to cover the unnecessary over support of any one F1 driver. It is close to trolling but then if every single post that supported a driver was considered trolling we would have very short discussions.

What we have at the moment is out of control reactionary Lewis Hamilton support that pollutes every single post when the rest of us are trying to talk about what actually happened. I admit I found it amusing for a while and stirred the pot, but you cannot say anything now without a reaction ...

I honestly don't know the answer but I think if a moderator (yes I know there are few of them) just watched the threads for the next race and monitored the trends they might be able to PM those involved and help it pull back to sane levels.

But when I am twice called out in this thread for not alerting,… and that that is the problem (when I did,… in both this thread today and the most recent race thread),… I find that offensive.

Off to complain to my Nanny now!

 

I bet that our Admins/Moderators arent around here 24/7 - but if plenty of posts are reported in the same topic Id like to Think that there will be a reaction pretty fast.

Ironically this thread also lowers the quality of the f1 section. After the race finished I've only made 5-6 posts in the Hungary thread stating my opinion. Why am I always at the top of the list?

 

That´s because I AM NOT A SNITCH.

Now seriously. I don´t think that the rudeness of this forum is too unbearable. Sometimes it gets nasty but hey, ---- happens. Also at this point we all know who the "usual suspects" are so we can take their comments with the appropiate grain of salt.

My comments were about that sometimes some "advising moderators" (I won´t be more precise without being in presence of my lawyer) like to "join the party" and stir the ----. Some may say that moderators can have an opinion and have some fun like everybody else, but I think that a moderator, just like a cop or a politician, should show some restraint in public.

Just my opinion.

 

Marginal trolling is something that we have addressed, but by its nature it takes a while to build up a "case". In any case, our concern would not be a user who is an over-exuberant fan of any given driver, but those who resort to name calling or insults in any given exchange.

The site would normally recommend that users who found other users tiresome and repetitive, but not flaming or trolling, just place those users on "Ignore". This is not a complete solution, but it does help lower the annoyance factor to the offended user.

 

I was meaning how I am the scapegoat and all users blame me for the troublemaking when, in my view at least, I don't cause any trouble and always voice my opinion politely (for the most part).

I feel sorry for Krafty though, it's Sid with the vicious tongue.

 

I', sorry for Krafty and Daytona as i think both of them are good contributors for the f.1 section but, again, they both oversteped the limit, we are all grown ups, and insulting and making threats to each others it's childish abd unecceptable...hope they will both be back with a bit more comon sense.....Toil, you are not a scapegoat, you are the main problem around here, and untill someone decided enough is enough , you will continue to be the biggest problem on this section, becaue unlike some of the banned users, you have nothing to say to the f.1 discussion except to praise Hamilton.

Ignore those who are the master of baiting, ignore those who always quote/reply to someone who is baiting them, and finally ignore those who drop to personal insults.

The middle category, I periodically take off ignore, but when a thread does what the last GP did, they go right back.

 

I'm a bit surprised that you include P.Singhof in that. He never attacks anyone or belittles them. He responds logically and politely to whatever inaccuracy, exaggeration or fantasy is thrown up by the Hamilton fanbois.....personally I enjoy reading his posts because they show every hole in the ridiculous arguments forwarded by the blinkered hamlovers which drive most of us crazy.

You also left out some very prominent names from your list, but that's another topic.
