I guess that's why we should've all bought two; one for monetary gain the other for sh!ets & giggles

 

And oh, my scuderia is about to break 13,000 miles.

I'm the second owner, first guy only put 890 miles on it...in 4 1/2 years of ownership I've put around 12,000 miles, that's 3,000 a year, hardly anything by any standard if you ask me, but everyone on here says my car is worthless now that it's over 10,000 miles...

oh well, I'll just keep driving her, poor poor me.

 

You make this observation from the Ebay pictures?
I made a visit on Saturday to look over this white 2008 430 Scuderia at Ferrari of Seattle up close. It has the US Carbon Package. The rear diffuser was in great shape, no sign of scrapes. The CF overall is in excellent condition. The only flaw I could find was in the expansion tank over in the engine compartment. That single CF piece will require refinishing...not a huge deal. The only other obvious flaw I could find was a very small curb ding in the left front wheel rim. I saw no signs of the typical black paint peeling in the door jams or engine compartment trim areas either. The alcantara is NOT tired looking in the least, it was in excellent condition.

I have no ties to the car, I just wanted to check it out myself after seeing your damning assessment from some low res pics on Ebay....

 

Maybe you should buy it then, or maybe I should.

Where are you all seeing price increases on Scuds?
Disclosure, I have a Scud and would love to see prices increase.
According to the Market Newsletter Scuds in the USA are depreciating at about or around 2%. That is significantly less than several years ago, but still depreciating and NOT yet appreciating.
Europe is seems is a different story with Scud prices going up.

 

Just look at the asking prices on any car-selling website. They are substantially higher on average than they were a year ago.

 

Ferrari Long Island had a yellow Scud with 3k miles at 279k that disappeared off their site very quickly earlier this year

 

I saw that car in person. Not the cleanest car out there. I wonder how much they sold it for.

 

It could not have sold for that price. They listed another one right after the Yellow Scud sold for about 239k or so. Algar recently sold a low mileage Scud for 220k.

Beautiful fully optioned iconic combo'd rosso corsa 2008 Scud sells for $210k on the first day? For the longest time, it was hard to find a Scud actually sell over $200k. Now we're starting to see a few samples get picked up above $200k and VERY quickly. But I don't think we're at the $225-250k range for non low mileage cars yet... As some of these dealership asking prices seem to indicate.

Non-low mileage means more than 10K miles?

 

"Low" mileage to me is less than 5k miles. Super low / non driven would be less than 1k mi

 

He's got the US Carbon Package on his 08

 

210 is a bargain... If you don't agree it's probably cause you have not driven one.

 

That is what Ferrari Market Neesletter does, they collect average selling price of cars nationwide and compare to previous 6 months, year, 3 years etc...
They are showing a 2% decrease from last year. I regularly scan the market for Scuds and don't see any gradual increase in cars on average. A few unicorns here and there, but for most cars with more than 5k in mileage it's not going up. Hopefully the trend in Europe comes our way and the unicorn sales here and there move the market upward. Just not sure how realistic that is, the Speciale is still commanding a high premium, as long as that holds we are pretty safe. If Speciale pricing starts to come down to reasonable levels then that will put pressure on the Scud market.
I am sure someone will bring up the CS market. I would counter that it is not the same because of production numbers. The CS is a much rarer car than a Scud.
As a comparison point (and not a good one at that) here in the Seattle area at the Exotics car show there are at least 3-4 Scuds that show up on a regular basis, a CS will show up occasionally. The Scuds out number all the other Ferrari models at the show.

 

Not sure what to say except that this just doesn't reflect what I, and others on this site, have observed in watching the market over the past two years. Prices for scuds have risen sharply and the supply of scuds has dropped significantly.

As I also mentioned above, my insurance company placed an agreed value on my scud at $209k when I first bought it two years ago. Their current agreed value is now over $250k. I'm sure my insurance company would not inflate the agreed value on my car unless the market forced them to do it as that's the amount they'll have to pay me if the car is totaled. My insurance premiums have not risen in the same manner.

 

Wow, $250k sounds like a bargain now.

 

+1 a 16m with 3k miles just sold for 360K. Not sure what the fair spread to a scud is but seems like the rise in 16M prices should have at least some impact on Scud prices. Frankly even at 250k not sure why a scud buyer would be dying to sell. What else can you buy for that money with that kind of driving experience.

 

OH MY GOD! 250 for a Speciale is insane, here in Seattle they are still going for 40k+ over sticker! If that comes my way I would jump on it ASAP.
