Windshield took a nice rock right at eye level this morning. I've scheduled for a repair on Friday but I'm not particularly hopeful it's going to be clear enough.

I'm expecting no change from a $5000 bill on this one. Does that sound ballpark? No special windshield insurance stuff in NJ so my $2k comprehensive deductible applies (that's looking like a false economy at this point :) ). At least the crappy cracked trim will get replaced.

I'm fortunate enough to have Classic Coach 30 minutes away. Reading some old threads, some of the dealers don't want to touch windshields but I'm confident that won't be a problem. I wanted to get some cosmetics attended to anyway.

I took a hit similar to yours a while back. Drivers side eye level.

I had the repair guys come out to inject some resin and polish it to prevent it from turning into a large crack.

Unfortunately the repair is still visible.

Algar quoted me 4500 for my 575.
If the 430 is the same design then you will need a new windshield surround moulding too.
That was included in the quote of 4500.

Greetings. Double check that. There is usually no deductible on glass claims. Your comp deductible should not apply brother. No rate increase either. Call your insurance I would be really really surprised if you have no glass coverage. It's usually on every policy.

Some states it is mandatory. My experience here in California is that glass is usually falls under comprehensive.

Given the expense of the windshield, I wouldn't hesitate to make a claim.

USAA is normally great but they do not even offer separate glass coverage in NJ.

OTOH, I asked for a quote to lower my comp deductible to $500 and it turns out I'm actually still ahead after 5 years of ownership even if I have to shell out the $2k this time.

I'm afraid that's going to be the situation with me. I had a repair done a long time ago on another car and the guy told me that sooner is better for clarity because dust gets into the crack. Unfortunately, I drove about 300 miles after the rock hit. :)

The repair improved things but it still drives me nuts. I'm going to get it replaced in the fall and take the opportunity to have a few minor cosmetic issues addressed a the same time.

5K is about right. I had to wait a few weeks for it to arrive from Italy. Insurance covered all cost :)

Just to follow up, the final estimate is...$5622.91. $4200 in parts! The balance in labor @ $135. Classic Coach is doing the work. Lots of back and forth with my insurance company (USAA), as you might expect.

Went through this six months ago. $5000 for the windshield and two hours labor. The nice lady at USAA couldn't believe it.
