Absolutely agree and I think chances are the name will be hinting more in that direction. Highly unlikely it will be called GTO.
I would bet £1 that it will be the F12berlinetta Competizione The 275 GTB Competizione followed the 250GTO as the front engined GT car (after homologation of the 250LM was refused). As has already been mentioned there are many nods to the 275 GTB Competizione in the styling of this car, and this does follow the 599GTO Sport Prototype 275 GTB Competizione: two prototypes built in 1965. Whether that is the right choice of name is another matter for a car that will never see racing action (I can't imagine they will do a GT3 version as a thirsty V12 probably wouldn't be competitive in that category). I personally didn't like the use of GTO on the 599 either but I guess that's just me.
My expectations will not be betrayed. The car is just fantastic. New wheels are beautiful. I am sure that the front will be perfect. Name: i'd like F12 Competizione, although I do not think this will be the final name..There are too many vents that in my opinion do not exclude the name GTO , although it has been said many times that the name will not be GTO
Roof vents filler cap and what they will show you during private viewing may lead you to the one below. Also note that the design of the back end focusses on the car looking shorter compared to the standard F12 (but it isn't). Add the rear wheel steering on this car and the SWB theme is a strong contender. What it will be is anybodies guess right now ... Very valid points. A lot of design elements from the 275 GTB Competizione are incorporated as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Excellent points. I like all the names you are all suggesting. Car looks really fantastic. The fact that the 250 SWB has the roof opening lends to my theory regarding the rear glass vents. It looks like theres an opening in the top of the glass.
An excellent point. I'd be happy if this were correct. To my mind the look of the car does scream "modern GTO". But that's just me.
Now that would be a very fitting and elegant name - and they could easily add the SWB in there. F12 SWB Passo Corto.
Wouldn't that be repetitive? I kind of like the "F12 Passo Corto" as the official name and then people could call it "SWB" for short hand.
That would be a little better but it would need SWB to explain to everyone what PC meant but somehow I cannot see that long graphic spread across the glovebox. PC on its own, horrid and as I posted earlier, why refer to a Hyundai concept car. Competitzione, SWB, super fast, GTO, anything than PC which even as a Ferrari afficianado I had never heard of until now, nor I suspect have many.
I have to admit- I only know it from looking at Ferrari's own website where they use the PC over the SWB. You're right about the initials. GT 250 Berlinetta passo corto: designed by Pininfarina in 1959.
It's true that the name itself is long, but when spoken, it actually flows nicely - and Competitzione is 13 letters like SWB Passo Corto. But yes, the Hyundai was on my mind as well. A shame they used it, and kind of ruined it.
On the black car that is covered you can see the rocker panel aero fin is turned down rather than up like the fin on the Speciale. They also built a red car for the purist and all three share the ten spoke wheels... Image Unavailable, Please Login

I doubt Ferrari would worry too much about Hyundai. It didn't stop them using GTO after Pontiac's use of the three magical letters.
