I was thinking the same thing, but figured I'd keep keep quiet as I'm no "expert"......

For the docs; Would it possible to inject enough NO thru the AC system to knock everyone out?

I can't help thinking they'd need many cylinders of the stuff!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Dubious indeed...but same as you, I'm no expert. Sounds so far fetched to me, I can't imagine they just roll around with cylinders of this stuff.

I would think this would be a controlled substance in a manner. With the world as is and if you purchase in some not so friendly places it might be difficult to trace. Question is there a trace/residual detected in the victims and for how long.

Perhaps it was a quiet break in and chloroform was used instead? That would mean assault and battery and more... But why are these places not secured with no delay alarms? My system on my condo has a no entry delay feature and I use it every night. Sometimes when I'm groggy or distracted I set it off myself! ;) It's horrible just the same and I hope they can catch the crook and get her ring back. With AC of any sort, there is no reason for open windows or unlocked doors. Trust me, the alarm is wicked loud and busts your eardrums every year when it's tested or when you change back up batteries. Maybe the crooks did a timed strike to beat the police. How fast would a response be down there?

There are major security issues in France along the Med - Cannes and other tourist areas are ripe with crime - as I understand it, mostly from immigrants form the Arab world who move along the Med.

I have two young (late twenties) French friends who are married who lived in fort Lauderdale for the last 8 years or so. Last fall they moved back to France to be near their parents in Cannes.
They were horrified how dangerous it was. She is very pretty and found she had to dress down when she went out at night. He told me one of his neighbors was robbed and the police never came after being called. They could not wait to get back to the US - came back in June

I know people in spain that where robbed this way...they spray the gas through the AC system (I'm no expert on AC systems, but I think in the States it's fairly common to have one AC which goes through the whole house whereas in EU many are individual AC units per room, thus making it easier to hit a single room, and much less gas needed).

Weak excuse from the police chap to say it's never been used in St Tropez, whilst in many other affluent areas in France/Spain this has clearly happened. Somehow doubt St Tropez is immune to these more thought out break ins.

We were there last week. Fortunately staying on a friends boat. Glad they are both ok. It's a hot town, full of shady characters.

France is overrun with dangerous legal and illegal immigrants including ones from the Arab and African countries as well as Eastern Europeans including the gypsies called Roma's. Watch the BBC news about the thousands staying in Calais trying to sneak into Great Britain through the chunnel.
France is finished....I have an aunt and uncle there and they hate it

Correct. If it's not the Russian/Eastern European gangs, they also have a big problem with Algerians. I love Marseille, but the criminal Algerian undertone is always overwhelming,

If you have a simple fragrance candle lit, there's a reasonable chance that fentanyl gas will set off your CO detector (fentanyl produces CO and CO2 when burned).

What we know as AC in the US, is quit diff in Europe.

Most of the buildings were not built with duct space in the walls. In the USA, a building is old at 50 years, in Europe, its old at maybe, 500+. This is hard for us to grasp.

Also, the climate, southern Germany, is at about the level of northern Maine. The solar power is greatly reduced, and AC is mostly needed only during periods when the wind blows in a lot of warm air from somewhere else.

Hence, a lack of AC systems, and if present, generally window mounted after effects.

Can't comment on gas use, but AC use in Europe is quite different than Florida!

As a country with failing economy I'm also not very surprised that french police are rubbishing reports that it was a gas attack; A lot of money is spend in St Tropez each year and they don't really want to lose out on many millionaires spending their cash in other countries...

Again if im gassed test me and prove it. Is there a chance residual gas is still in the human system. That will be proof. If Im at JB income level it would have been done that morning. Why not know for sure. After effects etc. Also would there not be tampering evident on the AC system. Proof a line was removed or moved/tampered with. Physical evidence would be part of this as well as testing. Seems strange.

Not really as you just spray it in the intake.

    +1

    ?

A/C doesn't doesn't really have an "intake" - At least not on the exterior of the house. The air gets sucked into a return vent inside -> gets cooled by the condensor, which is outside and sealed, then sent back to the interior ducting.

One assumes the 5 of them weren't all in the same room (! ;)), and a villa of the expected size is just way too big for any kind of anaesthetic gas to do the job.

I guess I can (almost) go with the tales of it being used to attack motorhomes or truck sleepers as they're obviously much smaller, but a villa? I just can't see it.

Further, the dudes at the Royal College Speedy quoted above know of what they speak - I'll go with them.....

    Something is awry here.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Hopefully those tests will tell "us" what went down.

Drink or food? Maybe, but that too seems like a long shot to me; Everyone drank or ate the same thing, in roughly the same quantities? [JB, although small, is a way different proposition to Jessica. ;) ]

It's just not adding up to me.

    Cheers,
    Ian

In that case, yeah it does sound somewhat far fetched.

I've no idea how aircons work, always thought they suck in air from the outside, cool it and make your room a decent temp (never really cared for how they work, as long as my room got cold :D).

I've friends whove been attacked ''this way'', but no idea if they where drinking the night before. Considering it was a weekend in Spain, in Summer...likely point to yes though!

Where is aircon when we need him!?..... ;)

But nah, that would be a terribly inefficient way to do it.

    :D

Alcohol has many strange effects. ;)

Where were your friends? (A motorhome?). Please expand some as I'm simply not convinced.

    Cheers,
    Ian
