I found a dealer who has a new 2015 458 with 62 miles. The only option I wish it it had was the carbon trim package around the vents and console. Last month I had given them a deposit to temporarily hold it for me so I could make up my mind as I was concerned about the value really dropping once the 488'***** the market.
The price was $276k (MSRP) and although it was a tough decision, I ended up buying a 2015 Huracan instead.
It has really been bugging me as I really like the 458 and prior to coming across the 2015 had originally debating on getting a used , earlier version somewhere in the $210-220k range.

What do you guys think would be good deal on this vehicle? I have owned an older model Ferrari in the past and would really like to get another one especially a new, never titled model.

Sorry about the long rant but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Another option missing is the front air lift kit. At the stock ride height it doesn't seem like it would be an issue but it sure seems many here have lowered their 458's.

I have the factory air lift kit in some of my other vehicles and do find it helpful at times.
Do most 458 owners here have the front air lift option and if so do you find the need to use it on a regular basis?

The lift kit is a rare option. Unless you have a driveway problem, you'll probably never use it and it just adds weight and cost.

Now, what I'm going say you're not going to like.

First, if you were worried about depreciation, you want to stay AWAY from all CF in the car. The next buyer will like it but won't pay one cent more for it. What used buyers look for are year (2015 being GOOD), mileage (that depends on how much you use it) and color combo (which you didn't tell us).

Second, the Hurricane will depreciate faster than the 458. Most people won't even get a 488 for 18 months. In 18 months the lambo will have dropped a lot more. There's a reason why you an walk into a Lambo showroom and get a new one and have to wait 2 years for a new 488.

All exotics depreciate and that should not be the factor in buying an exotic. You should buy what you like and can afford. You don't buy these every day, do you?

Do you have a copy of the build sheet listing the options. Without it it's hard to guess.......

He won't get off MSRP in any meaningful way. Anyone walking in wanting to get on the 488 list will be told to buy this car at MSRP and trade it in a year.

2015 with 62 miles is a new, untitled car. The dealers know there's someone looking for a 488 who will buy this.

I missed the MSRP part........to OP: $ 276 K looks like a good deal to me.

Exactly. Because most 458s only have to deal with a driveway, taking it in and out to show your friends . Very rarely will you actually have to drive it to a gas station or an occasional shopping mall or restaraunt where the entrance may destroy your bumper and carbon fiber diffuser.

That is exactly the premise I was given by the dealer as I would possibly be interested in a 2nd year 488.
The 458 is Rosso Corsa with the tan interior and does come with most of the popular options such as Carbon fiber driver zone, electric Daytona seats, red calipers, shields, leather tunnel, parking sensors, stitched headrest, 20" forged painted rims.

Yep;.. that's pretty much what 80% of first time buyers want. That's why the dealer ordered it that way.

You will save the almost 100% depreciation of the value of CF which could be around $30K depending on what's on the car which would be 12 of the 18 months depreciation you will suffer buying a 458 Coupe

If I remember, the dash is an 8 grand option. The CF driving zone is like 5. The steering wheels with LED's are definitely worth it though because it's the only way to get the LED's.

The biggest waste of money are the door panels in CF. You'll never get that money back and they are pretty pricey. They look awesome though!

Not to mention certain neighborhood that are inundated with speed bumps. With some of my other vehicles I always seem to encounter everyday hazards and cringe every time I have to navigate them.

The CF driver zone+LEDS cost $7275. Some of the trim pieces can be upgraded with CF but you are probably correct that there is no return on the additional cost if I were to sell it in the future.

I ordered the full carbon on the interior plus the sport seats...sold my car back to the dealer and received 100 % of the value of the options I ordered on my car....I was lucky. The car came in as a 2014 year car in August 2013. Even if I didn't get the full value... I enjoyed the look and feel of the interior. The carbon fiber made it so much more rich looking to me.

Here in the UK used 458's are incredibly spec sensitive. Cars with high spec inc c/f seats and trim always sell very quickly, whilst low rent examples hang around gathering dust for eternity.. Agree the first owner paying for the privilege of options will only see a certain percentage come resale time but the fact remains if you don't have said options your 458's desirability stakes will be somewhat poor.

You could get the steering wheel with LED's without carbon fiber now. My 488 is ordered that way.

Agree that CF doesn't add much to resale in terms of dollar value. But as a shopper, I passed on any car that didn't have the CF package w/ race seats...the silver plastic trim looked cheap to me in a $$$ exotic. I don't really care for any of the exterior CF options. At the end of the day, these cars are emotional purchases.

As for lift, unless you plan to lower the car its not really needed.

I used my 458 spider as a daily driver in Australia - lots of speed bumps in town and never an issue. I think it has to be a reasonably steep driveway to warrant the lifter.

No always the case. I got 4% off MSRP on my last car.....2015 458s are not selling that well as most non-speciale buyers are waiting for the 488 which will start hitting our shores in Oct/Nov. That said you are of course correct there won't be a surplus of them for 2 years....

I love my front end lifter. Why take a chance with a car like this? It's come in handy quite a few times.

Lift is overkill on this car...unless you have an unusually steep angle of attack getting into your driveway. I have never seen a speed bump come remotely close to scraping the nose underpan. I fell confident you can lower the car 20mm and still have no issues.

That was also an option on the 458.

The car has already been delivered to the dealer and doesn't have the front air lift option.

Instead of getting a discount I would entertain possibly having the CF trim installed around the vents and console. That would be sufficient to keep me content. The CF on the door panels and seats although nice isn't a deal breaker as I can do without.

This is a good negotiating point. The dealer may be able to offer a discount on the parts and labor. Even with a discount I doubt it will be cheaper than ordering it from the factory. But good luck!
