If you really wanted, you could get an aftermarket suspension lifter installed.
That's good to know. The 488 configurator doesn't have that option. I heard of some 458's ordering it but wonder if the cut around the leather might look pretty weird.
My rig came with the lifter and it very rarely gets used other than my demonstrations . But then again I live in Florida.
I bought a 2015 new 458 spider with a $310 MSRP. Rosa Corsa and beige Daytona. Only carbon fiber was steering wheel with LED. Did have the lifter and back up cam. Funny that I'm looking to add another car and am closing in on the Huracan (instead of McLaren). While it sounds like you're second guessing your decision, hope you're enjoying the Lambo.
I remember going over Panther Pass in Everglades NP...elev 3 ft. Meanwhile we live at 8000'...no lift needed here either. Lol
I reside in both Florida and TN. No steep inclines for me in FL but I live on a ridge top in TN so the entrance to my driveway is somewhat steep and does present a problem for a vehicle with a low front end. In terms of the 458, I have decided that I do want to go through with it. The dilemma is I had cancelled my hold which had a deposit back on August 3rd. I have left several messages and emails for my sales rep since Monday but have yet to hear back. As of this morning, I still haven't gotten a credit for my original deposit. I am just hoping that the sales rep is busy and hasn't had an opportunity to get back with me. When I initially cancelled my hold, I had planned on waiting until November to pursue another 458 but soon realized that the odds of finding another new, never titled version was extremely slim. I still have the original contract and wiring info and am ready to finalize the deal so all I can do is keep my fingers crossed and wait.
Congrats on your new Spyder and hope you are enjoying it. My Huracan was originally supposed to be delivered late last week but the truck didn't arrive until this past Monday. Other than taking my son for a little ride in the neighborhood and my wife for a drive over to Tiger's new restaurant that has been my enjoyment so far with the Lambo.
I ordered my car exactly as I wanted it. Ended up paying 305k for my spider. Racing seats, CF, special seat stripe , color combo etc. New warranty, full 7 yrs service, and the new car buying experience. Things that I wanted I added later, like the matt black speciale wheels. It was worth it to me doing it this way. I was concerned about whether to get the lifter or not. I decided not to. I rarely hit with my porsche turbo and the 458 sits higher than it. Also i figured the times i did hit, it was unexpected and a surprise. The lifter wouldnt help me there. Otherwise , just being careful, you should be fine ( unless you live in an area with a lot of steep driveways etc). My first F car, and loving it. 2200 miles in 2 months!
You were very fortunate in being able to order and build your Spyder without having been a previous Ferrari owner but you may have had a good relationship with the dealer. I have never had a new Ferrari so I am still hoping something can be salvaged with my previous deal. I have always been fond of N/A motors which is why I want the 458 if all else fails, I would gladly take 2nd year 2017 488GTB if given the opportunity. I have my Huracan and an assortment of other vehicles to enjoy until that time.
