Tonight I ran Ron's (fastmustang) 348 on the Dynojet. 2 runs, both were 259rwhp. No torque/rpm on the graph as I didn't have an rpm lead that would work on this car. (well, we didn't want to cut into the harness to access the coil trigger wire). Runs were in 4th gear up to 7600rpm. I also got to take it for a short drive, runs and sounds great! I did like the manual rack. Not sure why the 355 got power steering as it's really not much effort to steer without it. Air fuel is factory was pretty much spot on even with the exhaust change Thanks again Jim for dyno pulls
Jim has some from 95 b and I believe he dyno his 99 355 to when he had it so I'm sure he will post them
Ron, could you provide some details on your exhaust? I thought they were in your "finally finished" thread but didn't find it. Are you running converters, and if so are they the stock ones or aftermarket?
It's in this thread when I built the exhaust the cats are magnflows http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/473702-my-custom-348-exhaust.html
The 348's steering is fine once you get the car rolling a bit, and it's absolutely superb out on the open road at speed (many motor journalists have stated it to be probably the best of any Ferrari made). When trying to perform a manoeuvre when the car is virtually stationary though (such as extracting yourself from a tight parking space or performing a 3 point turn for example), then the steering can be a bit of a b:censored:r and take a fair old bit of muscle power. Saying that, I've got some of the scrawniest arms in existence but I'd still say that the steering's not so heavy that it really needs power steering. I guess that's the difference between a 348 driver and a 355 driver: The 348 is for real men who have the driving talent to get the best out of the car, whilst 355 drivers are big girls blouses who need an easier car to drive! ( I'm only joking! ................................Or am I? )
The shape of the curve is nice. The fuel mixture looks a bit on the rich side. ' Adding PS to the F355 is/was a major miscalculation to the enjoyment of the car--even if it did make parking the thing easier.
Richest it gets is mid 12's at high rpm. Might pick up a few hp by leaning it out there but pretty good still for factory calibration (IMO). I overlayed my 355 graph on top of it today and thought it was interesting that the air/fuel ratio was almost exactly the same.
Send your throttle bodies to Rob'Z to have him tapper port them, then get your intake runners ported. At the bottom of the runner, just before the port for the injectors, it necks down to make a venturi. Though that may help in keeping the fuel atomized it is a restriction in air flow, and chokes the engine. Open both those up and that will take care of the "rich" condition. You'll also pick up +4 from getting the TBs ported, and another 4hp +/- from the runners getting ported on the stock ecu mapping.
Run 1 is 95 F355, run 2 is Rons 348, run 3 is 99 F355. Air/fuel is all very similar. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah thanks for posting it up. The '95 is pretty healthy, it also goes richer sooner. My best was 305hp at the hubs on a Dynapack, and 259hp to the wheels on a Dyno Dynamics. I'm curious what it will do on a Dyno Jet.
here is my 348 with 355 overlay, I had some work done to it to liven it up http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/422335-dyno-results-348-a.html
While we are at it, my dyno sheets before and after I removed the standard exhaust and just had straight through pipes on. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the reminder, Dave. I saw that a while back and just now reviewed the entire thing since it's one of the more interesting 348 threads I've seen here. Unfortunately, it kind of trailed off... Would you be so kind as to tell us what configuration you finally wound up with, particularly with regard to fuel management?
Thanks for adding to the database, Pap. Just to be clear, the first run was with the stock exhaust and the second was with straight pipes instead of a muffler? Were catalysts fitted on both runs, or were they removed for the second run?
Yep, spot on Mike. First run was 100% stock standard 348 with both mufflers and cats. Second run was with factory cats, but both mufflers removed and straight through pipes.
