T3 was the second best car on the grid after the all conquering Lotus 79, just as this year's Ferrari is the second best car on the grid.....

 

The T3 won 4 races in 1978, and Ferrari 5 (Reutemann won Brasil with the T2) against 8 for the two Lotuses (78 and 79) (or should it be Lotii?) making it Ferrari 5 wins against Lotus 8.
Therefore, for this year's Ferrari the equivalent would be, more or less, to win "half the total number of the MBs wins, plus one race".
Something tells me we will not get this...

MB having already won eight, Ferrari score should already be 5 wins if the situation was more or less what it was in 1978.
In other words, the Lotus 79 was not so dominant as you would think in 1978; or this year's Ferrari is not as good as the T3 was in its days...

Teddy Mayer was a good manager... but perhaps not as ruthless as the needed to be. He kept Mclaren going after Bruce's death and they did well, but as the cost of F-1 skyrocketed, he could not cope... then came John Hogan and Ron Dennis... Mayer lasted about a year... but the rest is history.

 

YES... great car - even better engine... over 1500BHP... BMW did not know how much as the Dyno did not go that high...

used rusted and "seasoned" 4 cyl engine blocks that had sat out side for several years and rusted over... amazing!

 

I think the best dream team in reality has to be Schumacher-Rubens-Todt-Bryne-Brawn.

As of virtual dream team, has to be Vettel+Schumacher in a F2004 managed by Ross Brawn.

An awesome pairing would be GV and Senna in the Mclaren Mp4/4

 

'67 Ferrari 312 (yes, I know it didn't win), Gilles, Daniel S. Gurney, Uncle Ken.

No team issues in the best looking F1 car of all time.

 

Close Izzy, ny personal favourire is the 1970 312.....Gilles and Ickx driving it around the ring...can you imagine?
Ps....i must say the 67 car is also a thing of beauty

LOLO, love Toto's choice, he's right on the drivers but Williams simplyu is the biggest mess in f.1 in terms of managing drivers and race strategies,no one ever lost so many races for poor dtrstegy like them,. so as much as i like Frank...no thank you...

 

What's interesting that so far, Hamilton has only picked by one person (barring the obvious one), and by none of the ''F1 guys''.

 

They're just jealous.

 

Not exactly surprising given the hate for him on this forum. It's all about who you like...not about what would make the best pairing. If it were he answers would be very different (ie no one would be picking Kimi when currently a lot are)

Of course "we" do...... If you don't say (repeatedly ) he's the greatest driver to ever walk the earth, you're automatically a hater according to some here.

While many of the picks do seem very "politically correct" it's an interesting question and some of the responses are "telling"...... There's some good reasons why LH doesn't show on many folks lists, at least as yet in his career.
