Yup. They asked my name. Thought it was a bit odd they took me at my word that I owned Ferraris so makes sense that they were looking us up.

Haha. That's great. I think that modis system is pretty good. Glad to know I'm not the only sucker. I was beginning to wonder if I got played. :)

Lot #50 - Porsche 956-003 sells for $9.2mm ($10,120,000 all in). This very car was a no-sale in Arizona in 2007 when bidding stalled at $2mm. It's my dream Porsche. I hope it goes to an owner that will bring it out to events....

Anyone got the complete auction results?

First time for me this year to watch the auction live online, sat through the whole pinnacle portfolio. Pretty exciting stuff. Attending Monterey is now definitely on the bucket list.

Bruce McCaw's. If you look at the seats, you can see the imprints of Brock Yates' and Dan Gurney's butt cheeks. It's a great car (and if you haven't read Yates' book "Cannonball", you absolutely need to, because this drive in this car is talked about in great detail.)

I have it. It's a super book with great imagery. One of the reasons I bought my Daytona was how Brock described it in the book.

Here's my view for the awards. This really is a neat week and a wonderful part of the world.

My annual Monterey odyssey this year extended to 10 days filled with amazing events, friends, food, wines, etc... along with 1 shy of 1100 miles of pure "no nonsense" vintage driving pleasure complemented with one of the highlight experiences of my life in this (see the picture) 83 year old "jalopy" I've had for almost 30 years: Almost 30 minutes of "playing" a race car driver (Tazio ?) around the Laguna Seca track on Tuesday. Thank you FCA !

Have to admit yet again, past week (or 10 days) was more fun than probably is appropriate with pants on !

My "jalopy" pictured here during a roadside snack break last night on Hwy 154 just North of Santa Barbara, CA last night with another +/- 3 hours to go before home.

Did I see you parked on 168 across from the entrance to the Porsche "Werks Reunion" on Friday? I took a good look while waiting for a buddy and it appears(?) so - or another very cool machine.

Yes. Thank you. It was quite a coincident to get that excellent parking spot, especially after being chased of the road by a bunch motorcycle cops companied by a low flying helicopter and cavalcade of Mustangs awhile earlier when coming down Laureles Grade.
While passing by they (or at least the Mustang occupants) seemed to show their appreciation by waving (without the "finger"?) and some even honked their horns enthusiastically.

Kind of reminded me of the time few years ago when similar incident occured on one early Thursday morning somewhere near " The Lodge" and it was Sir Stirling in a Gullwing whom along with few others pulled off the road right behind me when I had mistakenly been mis-directed to "wrong"(?) route after they had all been sent off to their "Tour" ;-)
