Yes, it did @ RM Sotheby's and for a price less than they were new.
New "sticker" on a 2008 Lamborghini Reventón was 1,5 mill USD.

    Lot 115
    2008 Lamborghini Reventón
To be auctioned on Thursday, August 13, 2015
    Estimate $1,400,000 - $1,800,000
    Chassis no. ZHWBU77S08LA03269
    Serial no. 07/20

The car that heralded Lamborghini's introduction into the ultra-exclusive limited-production supercar market
The seventh of twenty examples produced
Less than 900 miles from new
A hugely desirable limited-production V-12 Lamborghini with jet age styling

All 20 Reventóns produced (plus one for the factory museum) were finished in the same color combination: a flat grey with a slight hint of green and mild metallic flakes and an interior swathed in military-green alcantara, black leather, aluminum, and carbon fiber. Although it retains all the creature comforts expected in such an exclusive automobile, the Reventón’s interior exudes a more focused and precise feeling than any of its peers from Sant’Agata. Appropriately, only Lamborghini’s most loyal customers were afforded the opportunity to purchase a Reventón, at a price of $1,500,000. All 20 examples were spoken for before the car was announced.

This example was originally delivered to Lamborghini Dallas and sold new to its first owner, Erich Spangenburg, a Lamborghini collector and resident of Dallas. Mr. Spangenburg only kept the car for a brief period, and it was subsequently acquired by the present owner. Today, it remains in virtually as-new condition and the odometer reads less than 900 miles since new. As a result, the Reventón shows very few signs of wear both inside and out. It is accompanied by its proper set of manuals with Reventón supplement, a copy of its window sticker, additional manuals, and a remote for the car’s Kenwood stereo.

For Lamborghini, it served as a striking halo car, both pleasing its best clients and drawing new fans and enthusiasts to the brand with its incredible presence and performance. As the Reventón was limited to only 20 examples, it is not only much rarer than its production sibling but also infinitely more desirable, representing the pinnacle of Lamborghini’s design language at the time.

This Reventón is in flawless condition and would be an ideal acquisition for the discerning Lamborghini collector seeking one of the rarest and most sought-after modern Lamborghinis in existence. It would also be equally suitable for the enthusiast looking to experience the thrill of a fighter jet for the street.

    ADDENDUM
Please note that due to the low mileage on this vehicle the successful California buyer would need to accumulate the necessary mileage to complete a drive cycle to reset the computer for an emission test.

That was low. Did you see the carfax. Minor damage if repaired right is not an issue. What jumps out is the odometer readings: 4/11/02 16000, 6/17/02 30402. Someone had fun.

I know...it is a shame the auction descriptions are such a load of crap. I recall it even described the car with some bs like "...believed to be wearing the original paint...". Believed by whom? Mickey Mouse? One could feel the paint edge along all body openings, and visually, it was obvious too. It seems the auctions are all geared up to sell to flippers, who really don't care as long as they can flip it at the next auction for a profit. I can't wait for the speculators/flippers to be driven out of the market so it will be healthy again. There should always be some in a healthy market, but I believe the majority of bidders are flippers which is unhealthy, and that is why the auction descriptions can get away with so much bs. Even the LP400 at RM had obvious issues, like the wrong lens in the front market lights (from a later variant), and it wasn't nearly as nice as represented. And a Ghibli at Gooding had the rear tail lights installed upside down with the orange part above the red! But nobody seemed to know or care....seems the real enthusiasts are the minority, with ego driven, clueless (but talking otherwise), flippers running the market......

    Again, well below low estimate.

An overall auction summary relative to past auctions would be very useful.

4 months ago I thought the high was Pebble Beach 2014, and I think that remains true (with the exception of a few unusual results due to unusual circumstances such as the Miura S). It will be interesting to see where the market goes through the winter.

    Preach the word, brother.

But let's not forget, the market is not just auctions, and at the risk of being redundant, I'll say yet again that many of the best cars never see the public market.

The main thing with auctions is to be knowledgeable and cautious.

All you had to do was open the door or engine compartment to see obvious signs of repaint and wear. At no reserve, I expected this car to stall at $250,000 tops. My comp to this was Roy's car at RM, which hammered at $335,000 and was 3 times the car.

No I did not buy it. I was there, it was a very rough car...higher miles, accident repair not very good, tires dated, chrome wheels peeling, area of glass delaminating, interior showed a lot of wear..so with fees sells at $160k approx, then still $2k shipping Home.

So true...they run the bid up close to the reserve. Then show as a no sale to keep the market prices higher.

IMO, ONLY the true SOLD hammered ones are a reality check. I am still amazed that 89 cars got more (the ones that sold) then my 88 low mile example. such is the life of "no reserve" auctions....and TODAY is a new day...so forward we go!!!

Here's a shot where you can see exactly when they lifted the reserve on the Miura S:

I think the values are flat. Check out Hagarty's online price guide. Seems all is the same even after Monterey. But, perceptions can be funny, and because auction houses cranked up their estimate ranges, even low estimates were much higher than they should have been. So....the perception is that prices are dropping. But, wait a minute.....the low estimates went way up, but the prices didn't go up to meet them. That does not indicate the market has dropped, just that the auction houses thought prices were going to keep zooming up and they didn't!

Case in point: LP400 in the Hagarty price guide has an average value of ~$1.3 million. About a year and a half ago one sold for about that at Bonhams in CT. Then Sports Car Market has a cover story about the LP400 and concluded that the price should stick and be flat for a while. Then 2014 Monterey at Gooding, a freak LP400 sale of ~$1.8 million for a car in rough condition got everyone worked up. That was an anomaly imo, as an original owner wanted his car back. Last week, the LP400 sold for ~$1.3 million. So......no price drop. Remove the fluke sale, and the LP400 market is flat for about a year and a half. FLAT...not down. This case example has been repeated with many Lambos.

    Astute observations.

The peak was Pebble Beach 2014.

I would add that many Lambos managed to sell for above-par in the last year, and are now heading back down to reality. IMHO, I think prices will drop still further. Not a whole lot, but some, and yet, they'll still be strong relative to 2 or 3 years ago. All that's happening is that the market is getting rid of the hot air.

I was present at just about every Lambo Auction at every house this past week. I was of course dis-appointed in my 88 car. All said and done, I cleared approx $8k on it, the house almost $40K..but such is life. I did speak with all 3 bidders, the two that dropped out at 300K and then 330K as well as the winner at $335lK. ALL OF them thought the car was "aftermarket" FUGLY bumpers put on by US Dealers once the car arrived in the states for DOT reasons. NONE of them KNEW that it actually was applied at the factory. For this reasons their bids were lower. SO we learn that it appears the FUGLY bumpers must go to get a better price for your car.

All in all, the strong price cars that DID sell, the 89 Red at $385K PLUS 10% fees as well as the ONES that did not sell, RESERVES not met in the 400k and above, prove one thing....the prices ARE NOT down as others suggest, just the opposite, they are strong and holding as the real owners of these cars KNOW what they are really worth and are NOT letting them go until they get the correct value paid for them.

IMO, you will be very hard pressed to locate any decent Countach of ANY variant trading at anything under $325K in the next 6 months. The same with the Diablo market, is showed well and strong this last week..it was the SINGLE cause for the sale of my 97 1/2 Yellow Roadster, my 99 Blue Roadster and my 01 Yellow 6.0 ALL to buyers that were present in Monterey and quickly snapped up my cars as they saw were the market is heading...I am working with several others on my last Diablo 6.0 I have in stock as well as my 89 Anniversary cars...I dont really expect either to be with me much longer...but time will tell.

FYI, I bought the low mile Black 89 for $297K all in. I also bought what is to date the highest ever paid for a Lamborghini Islero. I bought the Red one at R/M Saturday night with fees all in at $401K..with ONLY 100 S cars ever made like this, I think its got no where else to go but up...Plus I just think the car is stunning and bad ass.

SO my take...all is well and the on ward march is here to stay...I am not worried nor having any fire sale soon...

I should add...that each will take from this last week as they see it...BUT if you are one of them that looks, as some would have you believe that the sky is falling and you will be back on Welfare and food stamps because your Countach or ANY pre 2004 Lamborghini you own is dropping by 60% estimates....

well you have a few things you can do

    1) You can just wait and see and enjoy your toy

    2) List it for sale yourself, take on all the tire kickers, all the PPI'S, all the "I can pay next week, take a deposit"....

    3) you can send it to an up coming auction, and get paid what it hammers for LESS the houses take of approx 6 to 10% (depends on the house)...wait 21 to 28 days to get paid..and thats IF it sells

    4) You can do a "Private sale" with a "broker"...much like a Auction House, they take 6% from BOTH SIDES...and IF IT Sells, you get paid..and keep in mind...6% of $50K is only $3k..so if you can get it sold QUICKLY at 300K instead of 350K...talk your client into the prices have "dropped..bla bla bla bla stuff...the only person hurt is you..loosing $50K plus..but the broker, just like the Auction House, comes out smelling great..ONLY a $3K down and STILL pockets $18K FROM BOTH sides...

    5) OR you can contact me, agree on a price and get PAID via wired funds the following business day. Simple and you dont wait for ever to get paid...and history shows, you will end up with approx the same after you deduct ALL THE FEE'S from you other options..

    6) Just laugh at all of this and don't care, because you don't need the funds and are just having fun with life...screw it all and let your kids worry about it after your gone...after all, you have earned it, its yours!!

    Roy,

you will allow me to correct you, end of June I sold an Islero GTS in perfect condition for 420.000 € = 462.000 USD, that is the highest price so far paid for an Islero GTS.

But I agree on the fact the customer that will buy yours will pay probably similar money...

I did not know that, could not find it in my research....makes me feel better now. However, I did buy it cause it just BLEW me away at how 9.99999 perfect this car was. It arrives later today at my store and I cant wait to take it out for a drive..plan to take it to our local Cars and Coffee this Saturday am....

Maybe if you can, post pics and info on the one you sold please.

    Thanks Roy

IMO, ONLY up...the FIRST real SUPER CAR..a real mans car to drive, easy to work on as a DIY car and what a bang for the buck!!! Look at it today and it still looks like it could have JUST been built last year with its presence.

As an example, take a Murcie and a Diablo to a show, WATCH how many people flock to the Diablo and it still draws questions, pictures and crowds EVERYWHERE it goes.

1998 Diablo SV @ Silverstone Auctions
The Salon Privé Sale 2015 at Blenheim Palace
    September 4th 2015

    Lot 223
    Estimate (£): 140,000 - 160,000

    VIN: ZA9DE21A0WLA12872
    Engine no. 12872
    Blue Scuro/Snowcorn
    31,245 miles
    RHD

We are extremely pleased to be able to offer for sale this stunning 1998 (MY) Diablo SV. This was the first time since the Miura Super Veloce that these initials had been used and this model differed from earlier Diablos having an increased power output (510bhp), larger front brakes, an adjustable spoiler and three piece wheels. This car is an extremely high specification SV finished in Blue Scuro with Snowcorn hide, and is believed to be one of only three 1998 cars in this combination. It is fitted, from the factory with SE30/Monterey Edition side skirts and rear bumper, colour coded adjustable rear spoiler, carbon fibre rear light surrounds and dual fog lamps. Currently, the car has a sports exhaust fitted but the original catalytic converters are available. The interior of the car is equally impressive and is trimmed in factory correct half leather and half Alcantara. Most of the trim is now carbon fibre including the door sills, centre console, steering wheel cowl and dash surround and the vehicle is fitted with a Focal Audio sound system with a navigation package.
First delivered to Lamborghini G.B on the 3rd. of January, 1998, it was main dealer maintained for the first two services and has since been looked after by Lamborghini specialists Carrera Sport, and there are service invoices with the car for every year from 2001 until March 2015. Just prior to sale in August, an engine-out service was carried out by Carrera Sport and no expense has been spared to keep this Diablo "on the button". The odometer currently indicates 50,285kms / 31,245 miles. The car comes with an extensive history file containing the UK V5c, copies of previous V5cs, Hardback Owner's Manual, Service manual, old service invoices and previous MoTs. The personalised registration is being retained by the vendor.
These cars are total head-turners and not for the faint-hearted, so if you find the sound of creaking necks as you burble down the High Street disturbing, then this may not be for you, however if you are keen on finding an immaculate, seriously quick, piece of Italian Motoring Art with exceptional provenance, then this Diablo SV is without peer.
