Funniest/Stupidest comments you have received about your Ferrari

A woman was at a stop sign turn left. I was coming from that direction. She looked right and had a cell phone in her left ear. She never looked left. Pulled right out in front of me. I hit the brakes as she went across the street. Didn't have time to honk.

Looked in my rearview mirror to witness her off the road in the weeds kicking up a ton of dust.

In hindsight I'm glad I didn't honk...she probably would have stopped in the middle of the road. Could possibly have T-boned her right in her drivers side door. I did say some expletives. But she had the windows rolled up and on the phone.

She was coming out of Red Butte Lane which is a dead end. The road is was coming down is a steep downhill. People get going pretty fast down that hill. Bicycles go forty down there. Its a 25 mph zone. She is probably a resident...she should know better.

 

Amazing! Like I say Ferraris don't attract women, they attract adolescent boys and cops.

 

Ain't that the truth.

Had a few of my old high school friends over to my house for a Syracuse Football game last Fall. One of my good friends came in the house through my garage and apparently got a good look at my (new to me) Rosso Corsa Scud.

My friend rushes into the kitchen where we were enjoying some beverages and exclaims "Wow, I really love your new Lamboghini! It's awesome how you can see the turbos through the back window!" I just smiled and thanked him for the compliment.

 

The lady is very perceptive.

 

Geez. What kind of friends do you have!?!?!?!

Ohhhhhh .. this one is easy ! My black on black, F430 F1 spyder .. parked on a Saturday night, with all the other expensive toys. Mine .. every bit a Ferrari. Anyway, a nicely dressed couple come up to me and asks .. "Gee .. I just love this car. How fast will it go ?". My standard answer .. " as fast as the car in front of it " LOL

 

To which I would re-ask "if/when there is nobody in front of you? "

 

While at our cars and coffee last Sunday (we meet every week weather pending), approx. 20 of us were parked in a row in the parking lot. Out of nowhere some guy in a Jeep yells out "penis heads!"........real classy.
Thankfully, I think that was only the first or second negative reaction in over 3 years of ownership.

 

He actually said "penis?"

 

Much less harsh than "Dick". Could have been so much worse.

Today I parked in the bank paking lot. The sign said: customers only.

A middle aged man came over and intrduced himself as the branch manager and asked if I knew this was a private lot. I told him yes. He said: you have a beautiful car and i would hate to see your car get dinged. Please feel free to park next to the handicapped space so your car doesn't get dinged. My pickup got dinged so it can happen. In fact, we had a customer that sued us in small claims court over a ding. Of course he lost.

So I thanked him. Showed him the engine, etc.

He said their local board member is Wally Dallenbach (sp?) race car driver who has a California and an AudiRS7. Turnsout the manager had an F355 spider once upon a time. Told him I have an RS5 as mywinter car...the 458 spider is my summer daily driver. He was impressed.

Another surprise encounter of Ferrari ownership.

Wally and Paul are your neighbors. They have a ranch on the way to ruedi reservoir that's been in the family for generations. Surprised you didn't know that.

 

Well I knew Wally had a place around here as does Jeff Gordon...not exactly sure where they live. I drive up to Ruedi during the week at times when the bicyclists are not so active...that means early morning or late afternoon. Did not know Wally was a bank director here.

Jeff Gordon didn't grow up there. Wally and Paul did. They're aspen natives (born and raised), as in they don't just "have a place." They are legends among the locals.

 

I think the child in me would have a hard time not cracking up if this happened...

 

At a recent Sunday morning cars and coffee meet about a dozen mostly red fcars are lined up and a little old lady walks up and asks " is this a Mustang club?" . To which I replied "No, it's the other horsey".

 

I have a 550 Maranello. A few years, when I was walking out of a store and the car was parked outside, an older lady was staring at it, lingering a bit, and said to me that it was the most beautiful Mustang she'd ever seen, noting the horse on the trunk. Given her age and her compliment, I didn't have the heart to correct her.

 

I had a kid walk up to me at the gas station and while looking at the car said, " I thought they would be redder." Then he looked through the open window and said, "That steering wheel scares me."

 

Out for a cruise a few days ago, a guy in a delivery truck pulls up next to me and tells me "I'll give you $100 for that!!!" I really didn't know what to say, so I told him it would take at least $200??. He then proceeded to tell me that I had the best looking Ferrari he's ever seen and congratulated me. I thanked him and the light changed.

 

Except the Bora actually has a chance to achieve time travel speeds…

In 1980/81 or so the silver metallic paint fell off my father's 1979 308 GTS. Ferrari told us to take it to the nearest dealer for inspection and ultimately a repaint under warranty. While sitting in the dealer showroom, which also happened to be a Delorean dealership, we were approached by the regional DeLorean rep. In front of a fairly large group of potential buyers he announced loudly that "if we had been smart enough to buy a DeLorean we wouldn't have that problem". My reply was that it was hard to stick paint to cars that could exceed 120 MPH and that DeLoreans DON'T HAVE THAT PROBLEM! Belly laughs all around. DeLorean rep actually whimpered.
