Not sure if its worth it but I came across this guy selling his navy blue on tan 550M
he's got no service history on it as he just bought the car a few months ago from a used car dealer he says.
He's asking $50k for it and carfax shows it hit a guard rail and damage front right impact - moderate damage back in 2010.
A rebuilt title was issued in 2013... so I'm guessing the car sat for quite a while..

not sure if i should bother wasting my time getting the car inspected and frame inspected and driving 3 hours away to see it...

a 550 would be pretty sweet in the driveway :)
    thoughts?

For $50k or less I don't think you can lose. In 10 years I can see it appreciating much more. Just get a good PPI.

While many Ferrari racing cars have been repaired and raced after serious shunts, and there appears to be no consequence for a proper repair, there is always the issue of the scar on the history. It may never be a good collector car, or sell for full market price, but it doesn't mean its a "bad" car.

You have a sickness equal to the guy who sold you the silver rocket. The lame thing is that guy is 3000miles away.

How about a 2nd home in BC or Montana? That way you would never be without a 550.

If it was in my neighborhood, I'd jump on this one too without batting an eye lash. Recently bought my 550 at near parts prices without a ppi and didn't think twice about it. But for some people $50k is not chump change especially if it needs more work.

TDF blue is my favorite color. People also need to understand why these cars get a salvage title. It is super easy for a very repairable situation to exceed 50% of the cars value then the insurance co totals it. A cat converter is $10k, front hood $11k and latch is 600, fender liner 1500, front bumper $7k, $6k fender. So if you just had a parking lot front right corner crash it would cost $24k before labor and paint! That is how you total a 550. Basically, what I am trying to say is that a lot of salvaged cars are really good cars with soiled title. It is up to the buyer to figure out which. In high dollar classic 60's ferrariworld they rebuild those cars from a VIN plate and nobody cares about the past history.

....not an expert in "salvage title", but it sounds, like this could make a good opportunity to buy a nice car at a relativly low price. Why to break her up and not to enjoy this beautiful car, if it's a keeper, the title will not be that important imho.

During their livespan I think most of the Daytona's, 275 GTB's und SWB's would have got the salvage title in case they were involved in an even small accident. Not to mention the racing car's - most of them had quiet serious accidents during their most active racing lives. Happy, that they were no "written offs"....
