Not that much different than Burti/Irvine, except Berti started on the inside and had his wing clipped off. End result was the same......head on into the tire barrier. Ended Burti's career.

Yes very nasty one for burti that was. I read an article a few years back that even a year later he still had very nasty headaches, despite the pills etc he got. Also lots of memory loss.

Barrichello slept in the hospital for a number of days (?), right on the (uncomfortable) sofa.

Not certain that passing on the outside of an extremely high speed corner is a recommended course of action.

    Huge crash...

Another boring qualy, I fell asleep watching in q2, and woke up a couple hours after to see the usual front row, and little to chose between everyone else. Hopefully Vettel will get something tomorrow, but let's face it, it's a merc engine track, the only hope is the starts going wrong, and we are too far back to make a difference tomorrow unless there's a crash.

So funny that sky were banging on that Vettel had to be on the second row to 'keep his championship hopes alive'. Who ever considered Seb had any thoughts about a championship this year, I always thought he was a clever chap, so I'm sure he was the last person to think he had any chance this year, or am I watching a different championship to the sky muppets?

43 points back keeps him very much alive in the championship. A lot would need to happen, outside of his control, for him to realistically win the WDC. Still, he must stay in position to have any shot.

Want a bet then, couple grand? He has no hope, mathematics aside he needs the mercs to self destruct at every race...... You would have to be mad to back anyone save the merc twins for the championship

ummmmmm....only about 20 posts from people saying what an incredible lap it was....and not just this qualifying.

Should there be more fanfare or something?

There is no doubt about that.

Now, should all the other teams be allowed to catch up, instead of being shackled by the token system?

When I say "a lot would need to happen, outside of his control, to have a realistic chance" at the WDC, I'm basically agreeing with you. However, the Mercs still have to finish the races, and in case they don't Vettel needs to be on the spot to pick up those points.

Also, if the Merc starting woes continue, that can spice things up as well. I don't think anyone else has a shot of winning at Spa or Monza though, unless the Merc's dnf.

Vettel looks like the only one able to take up the fight with the Mercs, and reduce their advantage.
If he finishes 3 rd in the WDC, there will be no shame for his first year at the Scuderia, I think.

Hopefully, Ferrari will improve next year and be able to chase and beat the Silver Arrows. But other Mercedes-powered teams may join the battle too.

Racing for second in the constructors, that's it for this year, same since race one of last year. Third will be no consolation for Seb this year, but it's the best he will get

I think that after a dismal 2014 (no win and outclassed by his team mate), Vettel should be glad to have landed on his feet at the Scuderia.

He has already 2 wins, he is 3rd in the standing at the moment and has dominated Kimi.
    Yet, the season isn't over.

That's a good reversal of situation in my book, that goes a long way to re-establish him among the top drivers, and probably justify his retainer too.

No posts from P. Singhof since 3rd August. Why so quiet Pete?

Krafty...unbanned, but hasn't logged on for three weeks. Is he sad and sulking?

Krafty would be so proud of Lewis' performance in qualifying.

Best driver and car. Scuderia was weak today. Vettel has his work cut out to make P3.

I know from past experience that you are one of the forums simple ones:rolleyes:
But i was refering to all the fuss last year about Nico wining the pole position trophy compared to this years trophy race.
No doubt you will now come back with some whitty quip trying to score some points that will some how give some meaning to your sad life.......go for it ;)

Lert's keep cool guys, this is Spa, where anything can happen...and rain may help...we have the best "Spa driver" and the best "rain driver", if the car works, i still think we have a decent chance for tomorrow.
