Regretfully... this: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uLI6BnVh6w[/ame] Which is a copy (singing style) of this: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is6AFxPkTAA[/ame] Which both are, most definitely, copies of this: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUpUGz6ppE8[/ame]
Been on something of a "great guitarists who died too young" kick. Local station played Pride & Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughan on way to work yesterday, then Randy Rhoads popped up in a different thread. So, decided to finish off with some Hendrix...T http://youtu.be/OEJh2FFUUoU http://youtu.be/ikpI1t5Ih7M
Yeah, and count my grandsons (9 and 10) as two of those (me three), they were singing that song last year.
Listening to this. I always thought Sammy Hagar was in Nazareth before VH. LOL! Lead singer sounds like the Red Rocker and noted Ferrari enthusiast. http://youtu.be/soDZBW-1P04 T
The link is to John Newman's "Come and Get It" which is reminiscent of something sung by Terence Trent D'Arby.
Yes, the James Dean car, a Porsche 550 Spyder. http://www.autoevolution.com/news/john-newman-is-quite-fond-of-classic-porsches-drives-rolls-royce-wraith-96571.html
So last night was putting out the garbage. I have a really long driveway, toss the garbage and recycling bags in the back of my truck, drive it out. I left Sirius 70's on 7 on. Neighbor kids are putting their garbage. One says: "you listen to the real oldies" I just say yep and ask "what do they listen?" Girl in her early 20's says she likes classic punk. I'm thinking Sex Pistols, maybe some Ramones or The Clash. So I ask "like what?" She says Nirvana and Pearl Jam mainly. Felt real old, calling almost the next generations music classic!
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFphnhW_5c8[/ame] This guy has been on repeat here for the past week. I don't know if it's because I'm really excited about my trip to Iceland for this year's Airwaves Festival, but I really really enjoyed his music. This entire performance on KEXP, recorded during last year's Airwaves, is highly recommended. And I get to see him there this year, too! By the way, although I rarely venture here to the OT section, I would like to say that I have a blog about music called Talk About Listening, which you can find at the following link: Talk About Listening as well as on instagram @talkaboutlistening and Facebook. I write quite a few short album reviews, and some longer posts that are a bit more about my personal relationship to music. I try to listen to a bit of everything, but if you stick with it long enough you'll see there's a connection between it all. I welcome all of you to visit!
Thanks, Wade. I ran across that while Googling, but am not knowledgeable enough about old Porsches to know which it might be...T
Doesn't make getting old any easier Tom. Now know how my Mom felt when I was a teenager and we all started listening to the Beetles and other 60's groups.
