I've decided to sell the 928 Motorsport SC kit I purchased at the end of last year. Last week I started to install the components, but ran into an issue and backed out the installation. If interested, please contact me.

May I asked what the issue was?

On my car, the outer SC mount plate touches the body frame. I believe the issue is a function of my car. We double checked all the component dimensions and they seem correct.

Based on the picture I suspect this condition is not unique to your car. There seems to be a need to modify the bracket to make it work. I don't believe the frame to motor relationship is that different from car to car.

In that each car is "hand made", there appears to be some differences. I measured the engine to frame on both my '83 308GTS and my '86 328 GTS and there is over 1/2" difference.

I have followed the 928 SC kit info for several years now, having intended to buy one on multiple occasions but it always seemed that something else came up that took the money I intended for the kit.

This is the first I have heard of this particular issue. But it would, of course, make me gunshy about purchasing the kit. Did you contact 928 motorsports re the issue? I realize that they might say no returns if the installation had been started but, OTOH, it would seem to me that they would want to either ensure that the part(s) in question were, in fact machined correctly, and, if so, I would think they would want to readily accept the parts back if they will not fit on a car for which they are specifically designed.

I wonder if the 1/2" difference you measured on the two cars might simply be a manufactured difference between a 308 and a 328. ??

    Mike,

I did talk with Carl at 928 and we went over various measurements of the various kit parts. And no, he is not interested in buying back the parts, but would take them back on consignment, less stocking fee, etc. I rather discount the kit to someone who will use it.

During our conversation, Carl did state there are some dimensional differences between the 308 and the 328, with the 328 being wider across the engine compartment.

I suspect if I don't sell the kit, I will eventually notch out the upper box frame on the car to give me the necessary clearance. I always felt the 308 needed additional hp.

Of course, if I had any brains at all, I would sell the 308. I just purchased a AM DB9 coupe and am running out of garage space....

OK. I know someone out there wants to put this on their car. Who wouldn't what an additional 100 HP?

I'd love too but I need to do more research to see just how plug and play this really is.

The fact that the seller doesn't seem to want to back you up at all is frankly a little worrisome.

I'm either supercharging or doing ITB's.

I will admit that 928's reaction is disappointing... :(

I am one of those people who would love the added power on my 328 but I just bought a BMW R9T motorcycle so once again, something else has intruded on a supercharger. I suspect that I'll sell the car before I actually buy an SC kit for it...I've been doing the "I'm going to buy one" since 2008!

I would love to grab it from you Paul.

But I don't think it will bolt on to my system. :(

I have an 1983 QV also so I'm assuming it wouldn't fit mine too. Did 928 at least give you an idea why it's not fitting? Can the plate by adapted to make it work?

I discussed the situation with Carl at 928 and we came up with several possible solutions, however, by that time, I had already reversed the installation and removed the car from the shop where I was working on the car. It's very possible the kit will work on your car. Since you are not far from me, bring the car by and we can take some measurements side by side. I have a lift so there will be no problem getting the various measurements.

I am running EFI, which makes the tuning quite easy. TBI would be a challenge, but doable.
