    Hi gals/guys,

I'm Josh and new to the forum. I've been over on the Porsche forums for years now and just parted ways with my third Porsche 911. I'd like to pick up a Ferrari this time!
I have $100,000 to play with so what should I get?
    Suggestions?
I really want a manual gear box coupe.
    Thanks!

    Josh

i dont think u can buy manual gear box coupe with that money

i think the mint f1 gear box goes for around 120k+ ish

so you might need extra 20~30k on top of that (including sales tax),

360 modena manual is going for around 120k @ beverly hills ferrari

if you can find a private seller, maybe u can pull it with 110k?

if you go with the older model, i think u can

Depends what you're looking for... you want classic or modern Ferrari? V8 or V12?
Which models do you think are pretty.. and which ones are you thinking of?

Forget manual 430 and 575, out of price range. How long is the $100k supposed to last for ownership?

    $100K USD Limit:

    V8
    Ferrari 360 MT
Ferrari 355 MT (be prepared for high maint costs)
Ferrari 348 MT (more raw, expensive engine out)
Ferrari 308 / 328: Over-priced right now, but in your range and MT

    V12
Ferrari 612 Base (F1 only - MT much more expensive) Currently under-valued
    Ferrari 550 (MT only)
Ferrari TR (MT only and currently over-priced)

For $100k you can have a perfect 348 tb with enough left over to cover about 15 years worth of operating costs (if dealer serviced using the 5-yr plan).

IMHO look at either 360 or 550. 360 will be a bit more like your 911. The 550 being front engined will be a better highway car but not as nimble feeling. To my mind: 360= more toy / 550= more "real car"... (Not looking to offend any owners/ fans- thats just how it works in my head)

Another Porsche 911, before they go over $100K. ;)

For a Ferrari, the 308/328 were the last analogue cars and are still attainable for <$100K. Real sports cars, but tight cockpits and old school ergonomics.

If you need a modern car rather than a classic, the 360 is probably the best bet. It gives up a lot aesthetically, IMHO, but is much faster, safer, more comfortable, and overall more daily-driveable. The Modena and Spider would be in your range. The 360 CS is part of the current price bubble, so out of your range, but if you can stretch to an F430, I think that's more car anyway. The F430 was designed around the F1 gearbox, so don't rule it out before you drive it. Maintenance costs would be lower on the F430.

Very fair IMHO. 360 is sports car, 550 more GT-like experience.

    This.

I did 4k behind the wheel of the 550. Great car, great handling. But it feels like a CL class Mercedes with a Ferrari engine in it.

I have to say the two best choices in my opinion for 100K and manual if you want a gt the 550 which is soon going to rise out of the 100 k market for a mid engine no doubt the best choice is a 360 manual readily available and should be able to get one around 100 .. they are both reliable modern ferraris....
In fact i have a 550 and may have to add a 360 conv with a manual myself

Wait until the end of summer when the stock market swoon and colder weather will bring on a correction in the F car market that has already begun

Maybe 8 MT coupes advertized in the US right now for sale. Not sure this qualifies as "readily available" but surely as available as [insert rare car here] at a reduced entry point! ;-)

Welcome Josh! You're headed in the right direction (IMHO) when you desire the MT. You have experience with Porschaa, so I'm thinking you have seen some Ferrari out there that really appealed to you. That's the car to pursue. I am biased to the 360 Modena MT, and hope you will give it some serious consideration. Guessing you did not rush into your Porsche buys, so DO NOT rush into any Ferrari purchase. Always a PPI. Good luck to you.

I would get a 360. MT or F1 up to you but MT should hold its value better.

Spider or coupe up to you.

No one mentioned a 456 yet.

Do you want a V12 or a V8 car? They will all be enjoyable for different reasons. Really can't go wrong rowing your own Ferrari (manual transmission).

As others have said...find a good car...and get a "good" PPI...
