Yes, it is my Urraco. I HATE to sell it but must go for another car I have an opportunity to purchase. Took a deposit on Friday, buyer is suppose to send the remaining funds when he returns from vacation late next week. He is going to get a fantastic car....with cool history.

Welcome, and please post some pics when you can.

It's nice to hear that some Lamborghinis are coming to Sweden, not leaving Sweden! ;)

This is a period picture of the engine compartment of 15001, the first S model Urraco with body *1060*16*, Solex carburettors and no third airbox, a LHD car that became the first UK demonstrator.

I need to replace a brake caliper bolt. My auto parts dist does not have a match as the shoulder is slightly larger than the threads. Is there a cross reference for another vehicle? I asked about a BMW, they had nothing.

No trace of 15001 which didn't even have an S badge but it was the first car with metallic paint consigned to London 2/10/72 for the Earls Court show.

AC must have been an extra on the P250 irrespective of model. There are many S cars without it and many non S cars with it!

In keeping the Urraco thread alive, here are calipers rebuilt by White Post. Also, new lower balljoint.

Also, struts, are new inserts available? Are they a standard MacPherson that is use on other vehicles?

Years ago I replaced my fluid filled insert with a cartridge from a VW Corrado with the shoulder on the top part of the piston machined which was recommended by Joe F. years ago.
I can not figure out what I did with the originals, just can't find them but can not imagined I would ever throw anything away....which I don't.

Yes I tried to develop a kit to replace suspension components that could be easily DIY fitted but in the end in the manufacturer was unwilling to make them in small numbers. The [second] prototype set is fitted to my car front and rear and comprises:

Top mounts: To fit front and rear of all V8 models. Rotating spring caps at the front.

Adjustable monotube inserts: To fit inside the existing strut housings without the need for machining. They just drop in to the tube and are secured at top with a special nut. Different valving and exposed length front and rear to suit. Adjustable, with a flexible cable going to the front compartment. I also used small progressive bump stops, not the large standard ones that restrict suspension travel and soon destroy themselves.

I was hoping to maintain the feel of the existing suspension but with quicker reactivity but in truth the monotube design is probably too harsh. Next year I intend to make another attempt, maybe using a standard insert plus a fitting kit.

Wow, lot of work you did.

So, in the 70's and 80's, 90's when someone wanted to replaces their struts because they feel the ride was not as good like we all have with everyday cars, there was no replacement cartridge? All they could do is have them rebuilt or re-fluid?

I believe you can get the original dampers rebuilt but I was trying to eliminate the front end bounce associated with the original set up, attributed by some to under damping. It would have been easier to have had a complete set of new struts made. However the steering arm is different according to model so this would only have provided a solution for Silhouette and early Jalpa, and maybe only LHD cars. So the kit was the best way, also designed so that the original springs, bellows and bump stops would still fit.

Here are pics of the prototype spring caps, now on my car, with the rotating bearing on the top and standard bellows and rubber ring beneath.

The oem spring caps can be used but the central hole needs to be enlarged to accommodate the bearing. New oem spring caps for this purpose are available very cheaply!

Here is a pic of the oem top mount, cut away to dispel the idea that there was a ball race inside, but just a plastic lining prone to wear. The earlier oem design looks like a rubber doughnut, but it is identical inside.

Only the front oem top mounts get worn due to the rotation but my car has had the top mounts on all four corners replaced.

    Nice job.

I am just gutted to think that I may have accidently tossed the original inserts.
