Everyone is picking the best in their prime. Kimi is as good a driver as any in his prime. He actually out drove Hamilton last race until his car failed and he is old now by f1 standards. ...and I actually support Hamilton to live however he wants so you can't accuse me of being a hater. I just want Ferrari to win. You would see a lot more fans of Hamilton if there were more young people here. That's the demographic in which he is most popular.
Now that the F1 weekend is under way these might be the last picks. Nice picks Damo Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOLOLO, love Damon's choice, lololo...to win anything they would need a much faster car than everyone else......and even so i don't know, with the cock ups williams made in terms of strategy!!!
Two talented drivers wanting to be Number One in the team and requiring all the attention. Choosing a team is not just picking the most talented, but selecting individuals likely to be able to work together. Otherwise, it turns to be permanent conflict management for the boss. Schumacher was a prima dona, in my book, and Prost was a sulky paranoid type. A recipe for disaster! I had chosen Prost myself, but prefered to pair him with Mika Hakkinen, one of the most underated drivers, IMHO.
Schumacher was the consummate team player. If you think he was a primadonna I'd hate to hear your thoughts on Senna. I think MS and Prost would have worked well together.
My picks! (Jimmy & Michael) Jimmy could drive *anything* quickly. Put him in a Morris Minor & he'd blow most people doors off, no matter what they were driving! I agree though - picking just two is very, very tough; Pool any two from those three, plus Ayrton of course, and you'll get no argument from me. Cheers, Ian
Yeah it is hard to pick two. I can definitely say that MS would be one of the 2 but picking the other is very tough for me.
Agreed. There's no question in my mind you've gotta have Michael. Then Jimmy, Ayrton, Alain, Fangio, not in any order. FWIW, Autosport asked over 200 "insiders" for their picks a while back; Formula 1's Greatest Drivers - AUTOSPORT.com - Jacky Ickx As always, it's a good debate starter in the pub and we'll never all agree. Cheers, Ian
Pretty solid list. Stirling Moss, Gilles Villeneuve and Nigel Mansell are rated too high. Vettel and Hamilton are too low. IMO.
What a stupid list, Just look at nº 40 and 39, i mean, i like Ricardo but to say he was better than Ickx is just plain ignorance.....IcKx was just as good as the other JacKie...
And how come that Berger is on the list and the guy who was his team mate for 5 years and beat him in 4 of those five is not?
I didn't say I agreed with it, just threw it out there...... Seems we have this debate every year or so, and it always ends in some level of disagreement & tears!..... I'm sure one of the triplets will be along soon to tell us why Elton should be at the top for example. For me, for example, while I agree that Ickx was without peer in the wet, I'm not sure he was quite as good as "the other Jackie" when it was dry. Gotta also remember the folk who got to vote - Most probably weren't born when many of these guys were plying their trade - Human nature suggests the guys you "know" will generally rank higher than those that came before. We'll never agree, which is what makes it such a fun bar-room (online?) debate. Cheers, Ian
