Bingo. My car was topped off when I bought it, a week later the MAF quit due to oil being sucked back through the intake.

Thank you for the advice - best to have Karl take care of this~!

Checking levels needs to be immediately after it's warmed up and shut down?

I've never checked the oil level in any of the four cars I've owned. I've never put more than 4k miles on a Ferrari in a year and you have to change the fluids every year, so it never came up. Did it just get an annual? If so just drive it and don't worry about it.

Dito on the oil change warning. I purchased my 599 from a Lamborghini dealer. Before I would go through with the purchase I had them send the car to a Ferrari dealer for a PPI and to bring the car up to date on its maintenance. The Lamborghini dealer had just changed the oil. The Ferrari dealer found oil in the intake manifold while doing the PPI. It cost the Lamborghini dealer close to $1,500 to have the mess cleaned up.

No. You check the oil with the system completely warm and while still running. Warmed up but doesn't have to be immediately after warm, you could drive 100 miles and check the oil if you wanted to. Do not shut it off, check the oil while running or you will get a wrong reading.

Sean, after taking delivery take the car to your local dealer and have them check the oil level. I'm sure they'll be happy to knowing you'll be a customer.

Just FYI, the one thing you want to do without fail each year is a brake service. Something about the Ferrari brake system causes the fluid to gum up, even in just a couple years. You could probably skip an oil change once depending on mileage, but don't skip the brake service. But really should do both annually without fail.

Add diff to that annual list, the 599 breaks up the oil very quickly. One piece of info from Terry some time ago.

All in a 599 is only $24K more than a 575? Wow. I have a 612 and haven't driven either but I'd go for the 599 every time. Personal opinion.

So I am working on quotes from a couple places in town for:

    Oil
    Plugs
    Diff
    Transmission
    Brakes

I am told this is the 3 year service. Going to get it all done by December or sooner for sure!

Add coolant and air filters to that list. Might as well start fresh with everything.
