I really want a spider and know that if I go for the coupe I might regret that I didn't just wait for the spider.

Your can easily get a replacement convertible top from Convertible Tops and Convertible Top Parts
For $2,700 plus you have to install it yourself or pay your local Ferrari shop 2-3 shop hours for them to install.

That is really optimistic. I got a quote to replace the rear window for $3,800. The entire top would be a lot more than that.

I heard an astounding number today from a reputable dealer that a top mechanism replacement was 45k. I am not sure if other parts of the car are trashed after the owner tried a DIY and screwed up.

Bear in mind dealer prices are *slightly* higher than common sense allows. e.g. replacing a lug nut is undoubtedly a few hundred dollar affair while the real world is a fraction.

    Still expensive though even fractional.

Can you find a 360 for under $60K, yes. I just picked mine up on Thursday for less than
that. Great shape runs damn fast, scares the hell out of me when I step on the gas.

You have to just keep looking and trying. Don't give up.

But I would suggest you have another $10K in your back pocket to pay for some surprises after you buy it. These cars are not cheap to maintain, and if you do not
maintain them you will end up with a hanger queen.

    Good luck.

    Pete,

Have you tried looking in Canada?

Your USD to CAD exchange rate is very favorable right now. So your $60,000 USD will buy you a $80,000 CAD pretty easy.
Winters in the North are quite short so you are generally finding low mile summer cars anyway.
Another point is that many 360's were imported from the US to Canada when our dollar was at or above par.

So in short, for you, the Canadian 360's are on sale for 25% off!

    Try Autotrader.ca or Ebay.ca.

    Good luck shopping,

And if you do find a US car in Canada you can repatriate it no problem and without and duties.

The 360 seems to be cheaper in Switzerland than it is in the US.

In Switzerland the cheapest 360 spider costs USD 57.000.- It is blue, has new clutch and time belt, with 36K Km (22K miles) on the clock.

The most expensive one costs USD 92.500.- with 19K km (12K miles) and is black.

There is even a black manual with 71K km for sale at USD 77.600.-

Total 26 360 Spiders for sale in the country.

    FERRARI F360 Spider F1, 36'000 km, CHF 54'800.-

    FERRARI F360 Spider F1, 19'300 km, CHF 89'000.-

FERRARI F360 Spider Manual, 72'000 km, CHF 74'800.-

I bought a red spider in April. It cost $76k with 32k miles. Since then, I have put $25k into it. $11k was exhaust, which was a choice, but the rest is getting it back to spec. I still have the dash to recover.

If you want the car perfect, and you don't do your own work, then plan to spend money on it. They're high performance vehicles. You can't treat them like a Honda.
