Removable Front License Plate Clip

Can you send a photo, it seem like allot of us are interested. Im not in great health myself, I hope anyone that want a fire extinguisher bracket gets one before I kick it......

Rob, sorry to hear you are not in good health. I do not have a picture of one as I have none.

I like your idea. My current plate holder slides onto the grille. It has the advantage it can be quickly removed for those that do not keep them on their cars at a show.

There is a custom aluminum sheet metal shop I have worked with before and I will contact them to see if I can get a bunch made up. Feel free to PM to remind me.

I'm also in California where front plates are required. I know a lot of folks scoff but I personally prefer to not provide any opportunity to be pulled over in a red Ferrari.

I fabricated mine out of a pair of bent threaded rods, washers and some lock nuts. I take it off when I go to shows but leave it on the rest of the time.

I leave the threaded rods loose at first to help me line up the plate holes, then tighten it all down.

I've driven both with the plate on and without and see no different in water or oil temperature, or with AC performance.

Wow that's a neat solution - I would like to leave my plate on most of the time and want to fill the holes in the lower valence where its fixed now. Also looks like an easy home diy project. Perhaps add some neoprene tube to protect the grille from scratches etc.

That is a nice simple solution. Have you thought about mounting it off to the side a bit in order to provide more airflow? I know you said you have no cooling problems so I guess it is not a worry.

 

Sure, the plate can go anywhere along the front. It 'looks' cleaner in the middle to me. Best of a sad thing, you know. Its probably safe to assume left or right would thermally land somewhere in the middle, but I've never tested.

Really, the lack of fan shrouding or a "pull" fan design is the bigger issue with the 308. I'm pretty sure these fans are really really good and recirculating the all the air in front of the radiator.

Has anyone tried this approach. I am thinking of weldong a long screw or bolt to my frame behind my grill?
