I was just wondering what dealers were paying for buyback of 1-2 year old F12s with low mileage, i.e., are they paying msrp?

Lowest I just saw on classified here is $100k off sticker for a 2014 w/ 7k miles

Kind of hurts my feelings but at least I didn't buy it as an investment..

I would doubt they would be paying anywhere close to sticker for trade in for consignment they might try to sell for around sticker but likely you will get far less..
either way they are a great car to drive.

They no longer sell at MSRP , rather at 10-20% discount (depending on miles), deduct another 10-15% and you have what they offer.
2014 F12 mentioned above is offered at 25% discount from MSRP.

I'm considering trading my 458 spider on a 2016 F12. Mid engine V8's hold their value better than the front V12's historically. They are giving me 66% of the sticker price. 33% drop in 2 years. Everybody gets a dose of reality when it comes time to sell your beauties. What a load of garbage

There are over 300 458's on Cars.com right now. So, they know they cannot re-sell your car at MSRP. I had the same thing happen with my F430 spider to 458 coupe.

Its tough... but if you really want one that's the market price minus the dealer profit projected to fall over time.

That one is so loaded with CF and other options you'll never get your money back.

Every time you put CF in a car as an option, just think of it as throwing money out the window when you resell.

Also, 7K miles is pretty high for most F12's. And, it was a dealer demo which hurts even more.

IMO, that particular car is still overpriced and will drop again before sold.

Agree completely - and to pile on

    1) talking about depreciation "off MSRP" is the wrong way (IMHO) to view this. Look at base price - as Bob indicates, VERY few options will end up capturing value in the used market. You can compare a particular car vs. original MSRP, but hard to compare different cars on a % basis off MSRP.

    2) slight correction to my point (1) - some options will increase trade/resale potential for the majority of potential buyers - eg. shields, front parking sensor, lift (if you live somewhere you need it), painted calipers, LED wheel. That, or they may not increase the value, but help your car sell before another one less equipped. However, the (expensive) leather boots, upgraded stereo, passenger display - doubtful you will recoup that. Some will pay more for a particular option - eg. Pano roof in an FF - if they really want it.

    3) F12's are incredible cars. Allocations are still tight enough that you'll have to wait for a new one, but there is a growing supply of used - but getting MSRP is long gone.

    4) 458 pricing long ago started to dip on trades - but I would not blame Ferrari or the dealers - it's pure supply and demand, so to some degree, it's a buyer's market. However my observation is the market itself is moving slowly - i.e. there is a definitive (slow) pace of asking prices dropping, and potential buyers willing to spend up. It's not a sell off, just a normal march down the curve.

Of course you are correct. Just seems like a big hit for a popular car (both 458 and F12)

Steve, unfortunately that is the price of playing with these cars. But great cars they are! Congrats on moving up to the F12....any thoughts on spec?

These are all "new cars" .... unless they are an end of run, or a special build, the same basic rules apply.

The F12 and the FFs best hope is a TT8 in the next gen models. We shall see. Maybe more likely with the FF. All guesses.

It is actually a fish-eye mode for the camera. When you press it the video gets all crazy distorted apparently so you have a wider angle but in reality it just makes your head hurt.

not sure why they did this... it's useless

Well, I am going to get a car that they received from Ferrari as an "extra" (so they claim). Resale red with diamond finish rims, CF wheel caps, black calipers and shields. It also has dark sport sill and dark lower half of the side mirrors. It actually looks decent to me. Standard seats in beige, red stitch, cavallinos, passenger display, and NO interior CF. So light on the options means a small hit in trade if I am able to secure a VS slot. Here are some pics[IMG][IMG]

The F12M will be NA V12 but remember that it will not be Pininfarina coach and will pick up some in-house hacky lines, fins or gills. I would not trade up myself for that reason. There is also the risk of a Cali-style square LCD in the center dash but I don't think that is likely until MY 2020. Neither of these may bother folks that flip for the latest but those settling on a keeper would take note IMO.
