I am going to say it is the secondary air pump for the EGR system. Here is a pic and the price from Eurospares. Look at item #1. Does the sound go off after a couple minutes? If so, than my guess makes even more sense. It costs around 400 from Eurospares. Likely $700 from your dealer. Part # 181197

Thanks for reply , I will have a look at this pump over the weekend ,the noise fades slightly when touching the throttle and on start up sometimes it's not there but kicks in after a couple of mins

I know on earlier EGR, this pump runs for the first couple minutes to address NOX gases at start-up (2 minutes on my 1995 Alfa Romeo 164Q).

Otherwise, I'd look and listen to each of your four EGR valves that attach around the perimeter of the plenum. From there I would look at rotating parts. Idlers, AC compressor, water pump, etc. You could remove both belts and start briefly to see if the noise goes a way.
