Has no LEDS - Personally I would only buy if you get a VS secured - a minimum 50k hit on this one - IMO

No new Ferrari will be PF design as the relationship is over. Everyone has their opinions on design but the in-house design team tends to add harshness to where PF had flow and grace. IMO they also seem to add gills and flaps on the mid-model refresh designs. The Cali reference was to comment on, to me, the horror of a box-like LCD panel dead center in the dash much like a Camry or every other commuter device on the road. Both are deal breakers to me as I have commented in the past. Your opinions may, of course, vary.

I want the LEDs as well. If I were to keep the car I could order another steering wheel with LEDs. 50k hit? I wish my other f car purchases were only that much. I lose money on these cars like it's nobody's business.

They have another "extra" F12 in Daytona black. Has all CF for driver zone, bridge, cup holder, dash. Costs 28k more. You think I'll get that back? I never have before. Does mayor Bob care to chime in on the resale value of carbon fiber options?

I'm looking at F12's now, debating a new factory order on the basis I get a deal which I have been offered one but would prefer it to be more generous....

Personally I wouldn't buy an F12 without CF dash, cup, wheel etc. However thats purely a personal preference.

After reading this I'm second thoughts on buying a new one now....I don't enjoy big depreciation hits, granted it comes with the territory and I'm ok with it to a point, but after that I think I will shy away. Every mans 'point' will be different and associated to circumstances however.

If I bought one just because it was 'cheap' but it lacked some of the basic options I want, CF and Passenger display, then I personally wouldn't be happy, at this level you've got to buy what you like, surely? I know one guy who owns a CF company and refuses point blank to have and CF in his car...again his choice!

My 458 is for sale with my dealer, the more the days go by the more I miss her....tempting to recall her back and kiss and make up.....

A fair assessment and dilemma. At least the stock market is sort of decent and Ferrari has limited the number of F12's produced (maybe compared to the 599...or maybe not). So maybe the depreciation won't be as bad as the 599 was circa 2010-11. The car is so good that it is hard to pass up. Of course there are used ones and waiting a few years will lessen your initial cost, but then that's not being able to drive it for a few years. Tough decision, since all newer Ferraris are so good.

I'm surprised the depreciation is so heavy to be honest. I've only ever bought one car from dealer but I can get an F12 delivery for March, even a dealer who I haven't dealt with before offered me March with a 10% under the table discount....!

    That worries me!

The real worry is familiarity. Stay away from the F12...one of your countrymen "Traveller" said he would not go back to a modern Ferrari V8 after sampling the pleasures of an F12. You will be hooked for sure!

    Haha, I fear that also.

I do love my 458...but truth be told I've only had her since April and she's already back in the shop for sale. For me, for that money it has to be perfect and its not. It's manners around town are poor, jerky, shakes etc. On a run past 40mph....WOW WOW WEE WA! But around town which inevitably I will end up driving it, it got me down a bit.

I drove an F12 in the Isle of Man and immediately said "I want one", before I'd even driven off.... on the drive, it was just smoother and had that air of comfort about it. I was sold.

I LOVE the look of the F12 from the front, if Taylor Swift were a car, she'd be an F12 from the front, however I'm not sold on the back at all. However I'd just ensure I reversed her into the garage everytime!

Stunning car front on, really nothing else looks that good in my opinion. Also I'd have to order it in a deeper red that Corsa. Maybe Rosso Coburn.

V12 models always take a larger depreciation hit. Still, compare the % change to almost any other production car and its not as bad. The problem arises when you look at the GBP/USD/Your currency here/ amount. It can be a big number. It's just part of the deal.

Btw- as to PF- officially its over, but Ferrari has said they would have design competitions for future designs and PF can participate so I don't know if we will never again see a PF designed Ferrari- but it seems like it will be some time and I agree with your overall assessment about the approach taken by both. Time will tell.

If I were you I would simply trade the 458 for a used F12 with the options that you want.

That way you get straight into a car and you won't get hurt as much on the depreciation.

And once you spend a day with the F12 you won't even remember having owned a 458.

That's a pretty juvenile response. This sort of attitude here provides basis for criticism about Ferrari owners generally.

Please try to stay on topic.

    Nothing personal.
