Since foglamps for the 512 TR are so expensive, I'd like to put some of the the THICK Scotchguard film on there. Any good sources?

After searching I found some headlight protectors on ebay made from it. I cut and fitted them but they just fell off, even after applying them with heat.
They are just a little too thick and inflexible to stick to the curve of the lens.
Maybe there is a thinner version, these were about 3mm+ thick from memory.
Sorry, not much help but I would like to have a solution as I'm with you on the motivation....

512 TR driving lights are essentially flat, correct? Just like the ones on a 328 except maybe a little larger?

I just bought a sheet of film from Lamin-X and cut it to the size needed to cover the lens, once fitted and trimmed it is invisible even though it is quite thick.

I also think their 8 mil stuff might also work just fine.

By searching for "8 mil film" and "12 mil film" on Amazon, there are plenty of options for thickness and width.

And it appears 3M doesn't sell their stuff direct, which is too bad.

Found the actual 3M brand on eBay, in 14 mil, shipped from the US, for a decent price. I think that's the way I'm gonna go. :)

Steve, don't forget to do your 328GTS too. I did mine with sheets of film I bought from Griot's...but I am sure there are less expensive sources... ;)

I'm doing them ALL, Dave. These lamp assemblies are getting ridiculous! :)
