Hang on a minute! - Doesn't that contradict this statement Honda made in July? (From: Honda will not hire outside help to boost F1 effort with McLaren - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com ) :

Honda's new V6 turbo hybrid engine has proved unreliable and uncompetitive compared to the leading power units produced by rivals Mercedes and Ferrari, but Honda motorsport boss Yasuhisa Arai said his company wouldn't look to bolster its operation by poaching engineers with greater experience of F1's current engine rules from rival manufacturers.

When asked whether Honda would look to hire experience from Mercedes or Ferrari, Arai replied: "I don't think so. We have enough resources already."

    So:

    1) They're not looking for outside help with their power unit.
    2) At Spa they claimed to have as much power as Ferrari.
    3) At Monza they claimed to have @ 25hp more than Renault.

Hmmmm....... Anyone else seeing a pattern developing here? - Before you know it, Harry G. Frankfurt will be writing an essay about Honda F1! ( For those who don't know, Google his name ;) )

I see the Honda tag-line is: "The power of dreams"

Perhaps they would do better to stop dreaming and get on with the job in hand!

Indeed. I almost (but not quite!) felt sorry for them being passed by pretty much everyone from Saubers to FI's....... I guess at least JB was only a single lap down this time out......

Of course, it's last of the winners

Wonder how Dennis will feel if he ends up finding out his cars have just been the testing bed for the engine with which Red Bull will win

So there's already reports of finger pointing, etc between Honda and Mclaren. It seems Mclaren have asked Honda to sack Arai.

The Honda didn't even have enough power to pass cars with it's DRS engaged. Seriously. How pathetic is that?

The feed showed the exact moment something went wrong with Alonso's car. He was on the tail of Button and then Button just walked away like Fernando was sitting still. After that he went into the pits.

You really have to wonder at this point if this car will ever be fast.

During the BBC's Italian GP coverage they mentioned that some cracks had started to appear in the relationship between Honda and McLaren.

Honda have openly stated recently that they believe the McLaren chassis has been letting them down, whilst the McLaren drivers have been saying that the engine is not powerful enough.

Meanwhile Arai San was having to deflect questions at Monza about whether he has apologised to Button and Alonso for damaging their careers!

McLaren have lost Hugo boss as sponsors already, Santander are about to leave and now there is talk of Johnnie Walker baling out on the team!

With the loss of prize money that McLaren will face next season for finishing 2nd to last this season as well (as it appears at the moment that that is where they'll finish the current season), things are not looking too rosy for McLaren right now.

As I have posted before, if next years McLaren is as poor as this years car is, don't expect to see Alonso in the car come the end of the season!

Ty for info. What a disaster. Time to fire Dennis he is too prideful and costs them sponsorship because he thinks a backmarker team should attract top dollar

I still think the whole blame should be lain on Ron Dennis. He is the one came back in, could not give a damn about sponsors, and made some really stupid questionable decisions.

They should never have left Merc engines, IMO. The last time Honda was in F1, it was an ultimate disaster.

Ultimately, it was Ron's decision to do this, not Honda. Although you have to wonder if Bernie was in there somewhere trying to get another engine maker in the series. Let's face it, Renault is not really in it 100% now. Ferrari and Merc engines pretty much power the grid. So I can see a need of Renault throws in the towel someday.

And, no matter what Honda told him they would do by when, he had to decide if it was worth the risk.

I think the problem is they tried to do too much too quickly and should have stayed with Merc one more year to give Honda more time. But I don't know if that was even possible. Facing being out of the series for an entire year must be worse than being seen as backmarkers an entire season.
