F355 Challenge clutch cover/shield

One of my 95 355 street cars has that installed.

Never seen another with it.

I have early version of #3. Looks a bit different if you're interested. Will probably function the same.

 

There is someone on ebay.de selling them, I have one of them.

Problem for me is my studs don't extend far enough out to fit it - bugger !
So would have to change the studs

Guess it all down to do you want the function or the originality.
I wanted the function.

The originals do come up on eBay now and again, but typically badly damaged and at silly prices.

 

I have one on my street car, off a Challenge car.

 

I need an orig one also if anyone has to get rid of

 

Buy the CF one on eBay. Spray it with Rustoleum undercoating. Then spray it with a very thin layer of silver paint so it will flake away easily. Tack on a piece of reflective insulation material and you will have a shield/clutch cooler that will look OEM for one-fourth of what you will pay for an OEM one if you can ever find one.

The OEM shield/cooler is made of thin fiberglass and is very fragile. The CF one looks pretty rugged. You'll have to attach two tabs on it to allow securing to the clutch housing.

I may just make a mold, I can make a crappy one just like OEM

 

I'm surprised at how well that flimsy piece of fiberglass holds up, Tim. The thrown-up tire boogers on the track do a job on the diffusers. I'm constantly repairing them, but all they do to the cooler is flake the paint.

I was thinking of making them out of alum, light and hold up great

 

In Canada thru next week. I have a new one in a box I'll shoot photos of for you. Tim, you are welcome to make a copy of it if you like... The one on my challenge car took a few hits from curbing I guess... So I bought a replacement just in case.

I may take you up on that, easy to pull a mold and nice to have a few spares we could make out of other materials

 

I'm easy, will make a few not production by any means just want some spares

I'm a real dick like that, I think all the Challenge parts should be on Challenge cars at this late a stage in the game
