hello sure many people know my f40 because I do a important technical modification, ABS, ASR, news suspensions, etc.
In this moment I have only one problem and I need your help, I,m a big man 190 cm by 125 kg with the original backets is not easy to go in and out, when I,m inside the drive position is ok, my problem is enter and exit the car, the door are smaller and the OM seats too hidder.
I like to change the backets, but I don,t find the correctly for my car.
I have experience in used many racings seats, in my 458 challenge, 430 scuderia, 997 GT3 RS, etc, but this backets don,t enter in my F40, too largers.
please any people have experience to find a backets to use in my car
    thanks again

One of your options is something like this:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGlUo_VLiHQ[/ame]

The mold hardens and then with carbon you make a seat out of it. Means you'll have a perfect fit and fit the seat in very low as well.

I don't believe that it is so difficult. You try on a moke up and then in your car.

Yep exactly. You literally sit in a bag which then hardens, then layer it with carbon and create the seat. Obviously it does take an expert to make it look presentable ;).

My understanding is that Ferrari seats (not in the F40 times, but now...today) come in three sizes, so it sounds like you need the larger shell.

Are you near a Ferrari dealer to ask??

Then recover it to look as the F40 seat does (simply red material)

to big tex, yes in the ferrari dealer we check some seats, from 458, from scuderia, etc, and are too largest, the space in the f40, between the door and the hand brake in the midle, are more smaller of this moderns cars.
Same the forms of the OM f40 seats are absolute different.
conclusion for the moment in ferrari and in recaro I don,t find one backet correctly for this double fonction, drive easy and go in and out easy also.

Instead of trying to increase the seat size, there's always the option of trying to shrink the driver size. ;)

It is tight getting into mine but once in I'm good. Use your stomach muscles to get out. Bend your left knee and swing your left leg out and use your left arm bent to push up from the side. Going a bit slower helps too.

Perhaps you should contact a seat company directly- such as Recaro? I think as long as you preserve the original seats mounting new seats that work better for you is fine.

you need to excuse me my bad english, my problem is not a mussels problem, I use regularly my 997 GT· RS or my SLS black series with a OM backets without any problem, my problem are with the OM from my F40 the lateral of the side are very hidder and this my problem. In the past we lower the seats, the problem whas less.
I like to find another backets seats where the lateral are less hidder.
In this last weeks, we check, the backets from 430, 458, porsche 997, porsche 991, and 2 times a fantastics recaro, and another for the minor markers.
the question are, another people with the same car to use frecuenly find the perfect seat?
thanks, I use my f40 many days a weeks, and sure with more easy seats can be more fun

I've got a track car with very high thigh bolsters that makes it difficult to squeeze between the steering wheel and the seat. If you don't have success finding an alternative seat, you could try a quick release steering wheel hub.

This would allow you to quickly remove the wheel to get clearance while entering or exiting. It will also require the least modification to the car and is reversible.

Perhaps traveller and someone who tracks their f40 may have a reference for the bolt spacing of the oem wheel.

You're English is better then mine and I don't speak any other language fluently. Can you not have custom fitted and molded seats that will fit the factory mounting points made? Perhaps zanzi or pagani could be of service. It could be worth calling and discussing what they can and cannot do. A brand new carbon seat with whatever adjustments you require shouldn't be an impossible thing to have made. As for a premade seat to just swap in easily I very much doubt you'll find what you want. Any of the smaller builders who specialize in carbon fiber should be able to build the seat you want. Good luck. MaCarbon is another place to call. But they are located in the U.S. I believe so they may not be as convenient as some of the European based customizers. Brabus maybe another one to call.

Might try U.S. spec F40 seat? Less lateral bolstering and sits slightly lower.

Francisco, this is my solution (I am 6' 1", 200lbs): OMP seat brackets from the Challenge cars bolted to the bottom half of the stock seat frame - you will need to to take the seat slider mechanism off. The seats are a great fit and easier to get in and out of than the OMP WRC seats that are in the Challenge cars.

Only downside is that you will lose seat position adjustability, but since I am the only driver (as I suspect you are for your car), it really doesn't make that much of a difference. If someone else who is of a different stature wants to drive the car, we can change the seat position by moving the bolt positions, but that's a 20 minute job as opposed to just sliding the seat.

I still use the stock steering wheel position since it falls at the right place for me. You can use a removable wheel with a wheel hub adapter if you think it will help ingress and egress, but I found the current set up comfortable without having to remove the steering wheel.

Finally, you will have to take the headliner off - there's enough clearance without a helmet, but once you have a helmet on it rubs against the headliner.

Hope the pictures attach. I tried to take a picture of the seat frame rails to give you a sense of how the seat brackets bolt to the seat frame.

These pictures are invaluable to me. Believe me, I've tried to find decent pics of ''how low'' the seat gets when it sits, but never found any (I've spend quite a few hours on the net trying to find this). The most I ever found was people saying ''oh yeah, can not get any lower'' etc. These pics have proven that, with work, it is possible to go lower (with a custom seat etc).

All I can say right now is thank you. If per chance we ever meet beers are on me! :). THANK YOU!

Regular race seats won't work, you sit far too high, especially at your height. Try Julian Simpson at BMW Tuning | Simpson Motorsport | Home He has had some bespoke seats made up for a couple of us in the UK with F40 track cars and they are absoutely beautifully made, FIA certified and a reasonable price. I'm 4 inches shorter than you and only 25kg lighter so probably a similar 'circumference' and I fit just fine in them.

Have you thought about getting a detachable steering wheel if getting in and out is a problem?
