Thanks Henry! I am in Wichita, Ks and it's about a 20hr drive... I think it might be too far for a road trip but that would be seriously memorable. I'm trying to decide how to get it, I'm not comfortable with the idea of a random transport at all.

DAS. I've used them and had good results. They own their own trucks.

    UPDATE:

    Still no car.

Been a frustrating and disheartening 2 months to say the least. I'll try to keep it short to keep my blood pressure in check but basically the independent mechanic who the dealer sent the car to for our negotiated service bent 8 exhaust valves during the process which had already been a month and a half behind. At this point, I have the option for a full refund or he'll fix the car on his dime, apply a 1yr warranty of all work he's done that I could use wherever I want to take the car if an issue arose, wipe off any parts bills I had accrued(tensioners, hoses, Cam Seals, CV Boot, etc) and they'll pay to enclose-ship the car to me.

Right now i'm just really nervous about what happened to car and what could happen once i get it. The dealership has been nothing short of incredible to me, taking care of me and giving me really whatever option I want to pursue. Would you guys feel comfortable with a car that had this happen to it? My only fear is that if he did it wrong once, it could in theory be done wrong again and/or now that we're talking new valves that could be a host of other issues as well.

Sucks this is my first foray into Ferrari ownership, maybe you guys could give me a bit of insight to help?

    Thanks!

Hi Rob, don't despair. You have a couple of options (instead of none). In addition to advice from F-chatters, what does your gut tell you to do? There are other 355's you can buy, so maybe ask yourself if you'd prefer that given what's occurred. I once had a somewhat similar situation with a single engine aircraft purchase. I chose the refund of purchase route and never looked back. The next aircraft i came to purchase was an even better example with far fewer issues. You will get a good 355 with some diligence and patience, just keep at it.

I haven't honestly.. There are a few cars on here currently I'm mulling over but I have to let the dealership know ASAP. I just can't seem to get past the issue of the whole experience and the concern of what else could go wrong now that the heads are off. I feel worse for the dealership since they have been so gracious to me and I don't want to just take my business elsewhere, I just haven't been able to be fully comfortable with everything yet to take the car

Get your money back. There are too many other 355's available to buy and enjoy. In fact I think there is still a black Berlinetta for sale in SoCal with a $60 ask that has been gone though with up to date service ready to drive.

It sucks but if they will fix it and warranty it whats the problem.

Do you fear the engine will blow up now? how did he do this anyway? I understand you're pissed I would be to but not at the car id be pissed at the mechanic.
another reason to do your own work. you can only be mad at yourself if you screw it up.

That's the hang up I have, that his reasoning for it blowing up doesn't jive. He said the tensioners were loose or something to that effect but from what I'm gathering he just mis-timed it and caused the damage. If that is the case then naturally I'd be worried if he had to get farther involved internally.
