Thanks all for your opinions. It made an interesting read. In the end I kept my 328. The key point is that I can always find an F430 if I really want one, but I might not be able to find another 328.
The 328 is just a timeless and irreplaceble piece of art. Honestly, I would not even considder a 458 (which I never liked in the first place)
So glad I won't get that offer. Or at least one for my 308. I have both! But let me tell you, driving that F430 is a hair raising experience. Especially the music coming out of the rear of the car Image Unavailable, Please Login
I might get rid of my 308 for a 3 pedal 430. Id have to drive one though to be sure. Im out on the F1 cars though. They're just too expensive when something gearbox related decides to go.
Steve, when you suddenly, out of the blue, feel like driving a Ferrari, which one do you pick most, either deliberately or by reflex/impulse ?
That's a great question. For pure exhilaration and race car feel, I pick the 430. For feeling more raw and one with the road, I pick the 308. Also depends on what I'm doing with the car on that day. If it's a rally, I will go most likely with the 430. If it's a car show or concourse event, I pick the 308. And for the rallies I pick the 430 because I don't care about putting miles on the car. With the rising values of the 308s, I want to keep the miles down (19,800 original miles on her) and the wear and tear. But either way I get plenty of smiles and thumbs up for either one I'm driving on that day. I really love them both. Perhaps when the 458s come down after all the trade ins for the new 488 I may consider trading in the 430 for one. But the 308 is a keeper. At least for the foreseeable future
I'm glad that I have both too and I don't have to choose. However the only problem I have is which one to choose from for a spirited drive. They are both fun to drive in their own different way. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's easy to forget how much bigger the newer cars are...looks like your 430 could completely cover up the 308.
Well I turned down the F430, but as much as I like my 328 I would trade it with a Scud any day of the week. Shame that's not going to happen - yet.
Last week I almost traded my '88 328 GTS straight up for a restored '68 E-Type OTS, both red/tan. Tough decision because they are both iconic, beautiful pieces of art. I didn't do it. Reason: my 17,500 mile 328 is original with all paperwork/documentation. The "E" had no paperwork. None. I love documented history and there's nothing wrong with driving her either. She does live up to the hype. Trades are a different kind of deal for sure.
I am also considering trading my 328 (my only toy car) after 11 years to an F430. Never driven an F430 yet but I love the looks, especially a blue, grey or black one with brown interior. This thread is very helpful, but what about the safety issues, maintenance cost (including insurance) and comfort (living in a hot climate, I often miss a proper airco)?
