Autosport is already reporting the MB is *not* supplying PU to RB, so that would leave Ferrari left. If they don't agree to terms with them, then they are out of options. If MB confirms this position, Ferrari will have the upper hand in the negotiations. I mentioned Honda only as a long term option because yes, RB could be worse next year than what they are enduring this year with Renault. So 2017 would seem far better.
I find it neigh impossible for Red Bull to essentially end their relationship with their current engine supplier before having at least one engine package pending with another supplier. Considering the experience of the team, business savvy of the ownership and general success of both RB and TR, they simply wouldn't enter into their current position without a Plan B. Again, I suspect Lotus will go full-on Renault for 2016, leaving their current contract with MB open for assumption by RB. Torro Rosso already have had a relationship with Ferrari, for both engines (previously) and drivers.
MB will not supply RBR with engines at all. RBR will put Ferrari units in there and run the team until they can find a buyer. I can't see DM wanting to run a team that will not have a hope for future championships. The huge problem is finding a buyer for two teams.
DM does not 'need' a buyer at all. He can simply close the teams. At that point its a matter of what contracts to pay/honor and closing/selling the assets of each. Technically they have a contract to be on the grid until 2020. I don't know if This has any relation, but Renault and Mercedes-Benz are corporate partners, each company holding 3,5 per cent of the other's shares. Ghosn and Zetsche speak together from time to time; badmouthing Renault has probably not seduced M-B... Rgds
this will not help staying in f1.. According to Auto Motor und Sport 'Renault has already verbally agreed to the Red Bull F1 team to halt its cooperation. Both Red Bull and Toro Rosso should therefore look for new engines which are likely to Ferrari. Normally ran the cooperation between both parties until the end of 2016 . More striking is that the Red Bull F1 team by ending its cooperation with Renault will also lose EUR 88 million in sponsorship money . This sponsorship comes from Total and Infiniti . The sponsorship of both companies would go to the new constructor Renault team , although there is as yet little of conscience.
IMO It goes beyond that - any self respecting CEO of all major car manufacturers Would not risk getting exposed to the childish behavior of ****** bag RB execs
This is bad news imo. I think rb are going to leave, removing 4 cars from grid and leaving some good drivers with no ride.
I thought that was only for this season as F1 rules require manufacturers to make their engines available to customer teams?
I hadn't thought of that, there must be some relieved teams in the paddock right now, and just imagine, would anybody ask for them if Honda did offer?

Easy talking when you're again 80hp down on the new Merc unit, and upgrades on the Renault simply not working because the engine simply detonates. They're not making an impact they could because of the engine, if the engine was decent they would certainly fight with Ferrari, which in turn means they'll also fight with mercedes at times.
FU, Marko. A car is a chassis and an engine. If you can´t build your own engines, you´ll have to depend on someone who wants to sell one, and nobody is forced to sell if they don´t want to. I don´t know what the f--- problem with Red Bull is, they´ve moaning about everything these past 2 or 3 years. Man, they should know that they can´t win always.
Certainly no point holding grudges. Surprised Ferrari want to supply when rb probably have a better chasis and aero than Ferrari...
Maybe they hope to keep them under control if they supply a bad enough engine. If not, Toto Wolff would be able to use them as a "buffer" team between Mercedes and their competitors like they did with Williams in 2014.
They are true competitors, its not different than Senna leaving Mclaren for Williams, Prost signing a contract prohibiting Williams from hiring Senna, etc. Red Bull, despite not having decades of history, is one of the few teams that pushes for F1 to be what it should be. They failed, and have a package most here moan at. The SAME people, in one thread, complain of exactly what Red Bull also complains about, then in another thread, complain about Red Bull complaining about what the person just complained about. Its very hypocritical. Pisses me off enough, I now drink Red Bull. Red Bull wants to be racing the fascinating machines, that we wish were still in F1.
The problem doesn't lie with a want for close competition - we all want that. The problem lies with marko saying he will get back at Mercedes because they didn't want to give him their engine.
If RB left F1 would anyone lament their passing? No? Didn't think so… Who cares - beggars can't be choosers. RB burnt their bridges and showed their true colours by not sticking with their so called strategic partner Renault. They deserve all the pain that is coming their way...
