Dave-Love the CF package...It certainly would be near the top of my list of 550 options.

Weren't there less 456 and 456m made combined than 550's? Will it help the 456 catch up or keep up because there were less made?

I wonder if the carbon fiber package is the rarest of the factory option packages (not counting special editions like WSR, etc.)?

In the past 10 months I've bought a low miles T.R. and a high miles 550. I think the time has come when the 550's are passing the T.R. in terms of price all other things equal such as condition and miles. IF there were any ultra low mile 550s then you'd see them go for $200k++. Only problem is that they are too nice of a drive to leave as a garage queen.

Completely the opposite of what has happened with the 308/328 market. In theory, they have experienced that same percentage increase but what it has done is it brought all of the sellers out into the market and there is now an abundance for a buyer to choose from.

I was hoping to sell my 328 and move into a 550 but I haven't had much interest in my driver car. The ones that are selling are the low mileage garage queens while the drivers are out there in the market priced accordingly lower but still not moving.

I feel your pain...It's not helping you that almost 20,000 308/328s were produced. About 4 times more than the 550.

550 was made in around 3000 units.
575 even less, around 2000 units.

    Ferrari of Ft Lauderdale Fl.

It has the full carbon package, quilted shelf and headliner, daytona's, shields, and piping and stitching color on request.

Grigio Ingrid over Sabbia with black stitching and piping. Black carpets and dash.

I replaced all the Sabbia trim around the shelf and headliner with black, makes a nice contrast.

I also replaced the chrome inside vent rings with carbon rings from MAcarbon

Naturally it has a bunch of MSW options/add-ons

That's very interesting. It's my understanding that Shelton Ferrari was the nations leading 550 dealership for part of that era and sold a lot of 550s. I wonder if they got access to special options before other dealerships or even special favors for special clients. As I said, I've only seen two other 550s with the carbon package and both were late 2001s. It is certainly a very special package and it's only fitting that someone like you would have a 550 with that. The quilted headliner is also somewhat special, as only a few of the cars with the shelves got the headliner.

    Thanks for sharing. That's cool.

Nice package Dave!! Seems like the rarest options are whatever are on someone else's car. :) Original owner of mine had everything but shields and carbon. It is interesting that most original owners stopped short of adding absolutely everything. I wonder whether I would have done the same. Anyway some of these options tend to seem wise or unwise only in hindsight.

Nicely optioned 550. Sounds like a beautiful example.

I do not know the number specifics but my very late 2001 has the carbon fiber package modular wheels , quilted options (shelf and headliner), daytonas , and full luggage all shown on the window sticker..It also has a quilted transmission tunnel which I have never seen before but looks very much factory installed as the texture of the the leather , the stitching and feel seems to be same as the other factory quilting in the car...
regarding the seats I preferred the daytonas to the sports seat , no right or wrong just preference...

Larry, I would love to see interior pics, especially of that center tunnel. I seem to recall having seen that on a couple of cars but I can't remember which ones. I always thought that would be a great option.

He has a nice interior shot showing the center tunnel in his "My Garage" here. It looks very nice.

the picture in my garage is about as good as any.. if I could post it in the thread I would but ...
In any case i thought it was a cool feature I really am not sure if the factory did it but I would not be surprised if it was factory . It looks very much like the original leather ...
Really finishes the interior off....and gives it a classic look and feel

From early on in this thread...

I heard the ask is $140k. Rosso Corsa over Nero, 2000 MY, ~20k miles.

I would have to look but I think that it's September 2001. The s/n is 125727. It's the 60th from the end of world production so pretty late but not as late as Larry's or WolfTurbo's car, IIRC.

I have a spare hide for my car, which has the rare charcoal leather (also known as dark blue - go figure). I should give it to my upholstery guy to to the tunnel, although my preference might be to do the whole length of the tunnel. Hard to know. Regardless, that really is a super neat option, along with the CF package.
