I prefer to Bravo attendant! Here is the link to the Boomerang pictures https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23127/preview_lot/4859194/ I would love a Stratos Zero just for the novelty
I will publish the complete story of the Maserati Boomerang on autódromo magazine. Displayed at the 1973 Barcelona Motor Show and sold to a spanish customer. With never seen photos, detailed list of owners (not what is said on the Internet) and much more. Issue number 12 for sale at the beginning of september. Walter, I had heard the orange car had no engine when shown in Turin. Was it a real car(#117.081) or a mockup??
Insane money. From the article: The pre-sale estimate of about $4.54 million was never met, but that doesnt mean the final bid wasnt impressive. On September 5, at the Château de Chantilly, France, the vehicle rolled across the Bonhams auction block collecting a super high price of $3.7 million. Photos and article - Maserati Boomerang Sold for $3.76 Million .
Was the original color red or orange? All pictures available on the Internet look red and new 1/43 model of Neo is red. But Mr. Baumer here said it was orange, an article in Classic and Sportscar says the same and IIRC there was a pic of it at a car show, presumably Turin 1971., where it looked more orange to me...
Some sources in Japan have told me that the Orange/Red car shown at Turin in 1971 was a mockup, not the running chassis. Since the 1971 version car(or mockup) was either repainted or scrapped/missing you have to go by pictures as it was not a normal color. It looks very bright red or even orange to me in the color photos. Walter, do you have anymore information on the 1971 Turin show car??
It is no doubt that a lot of changes were made between 1971. presentation, when it was a non-moving showcar, and 1972. Car was then repainted in silver (I do agree that it looks better that way), made roadworthy and, from what I heard, got a lot of changes in interior. I haven't been able to fully understand what were the interior changes. I've seen pics with a central speedo and radial switches around it, and ones with more conventional instruments - but can't tell at which point it wore which instrument panel.
Walter I think you might be back, I hope so!!! Do you know anything about the 1970 chassis number? Or was it just a mockup?
