I'm replacing the spark plug wires and can't source out 7mm diameter at the local shops. Do 8mm wires fit in the distributor cap holes ?
    thanks

Not without some careful trimming, but it can be done.

7mm is available, but you're right that you won't be finding it Autozone and Pep Boys. Magnecor I think is where I'd start.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen, I like the idea of buying a roll and making my own. 25' sounds about the right length. Good idea yelcab

Just be sure to use the correct type. For stock ignition copper core is fine. If you have upgraded ignition like Pertronix or a direct fire system you want wire wound resistor wires. Using the old style copper wires with a newer electronic igniton can interfere with proper operation.

And I put Taylor 8mm wires into repro caps on mine. i used a large drill bit BY HAND to gently chamfer/ease the edge of each hole. I also cut the end of the wire down to the core and folded the core back on itself. Was advised to do this by an old timer. It does give you a better chance of making sure you hit the core solidly with the brass pin.
