Same goes here, the Deepsea is what I have because a Daytona and Submariner were too small for my wrist.
This was not a major purchase, but a fun distraction instead. It is a 1940s-era chrono from Cuervo y Sobrinos (nephews). It has a Landeron 48 movement, so a column switch chrono. It is around 39mm, which is rare for the time. The company got started in Havana with a watch retail outlet, back when Hemingway and Gable used to go jet-setting over there. Castro chased the Ceuervos out to Switzerland. They were making watches, mostly based on common Swiss movement, some in house stuff. The enterprise went dormant for about 4 decades, but got relaunched in 2001. They now have some ETA stuff and custom jobs. Their tag line is Swiss Brand with a Latin Soul. I think they make about 2K watches per year and you can see them at Basel. Their new stuff can be found at a deep discount. I like the vintage designs better. The dial was restored, but this is only a ding with 50 year old Pateks, and not for anything in this price category. With Cuba in the news...this should be a fun piece to wear. It is keeping decent time, so far... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah I got the Deepsea as well. I use that the most compared to any other watch I own. It's just great.
Haha, unfortunately not. A friend of mine is good friends with Gene Honda. We were out for drinks the other night and after a few beers the thing started making its way around the table. This was the 2013 piece, 2015's is in the mail!
We got a super, ridiculous, cheap air deal so we're flying in on a Saturday morning and back out Sunday evening. Staying at a little place downtown near the Hancock building.
Too bad its not the following week, LFSC will be hosting their annual Concours d' Elegance on October fourth. Feel free to reach out if you want any pointers while you're here. Also, do yourself a favor and check out Eataly if you haven't already. It won't be too far from you and I'm sure you'd appreciate it.
Thank you Sir! I'm a big fan of leather straps and love changing them out every so often. It can completely change the look of a nice timepiece!
Recently got my brother and good friend into automatic watches. Told them both to start with a Seiko diver. Here's a group shot SKX009J1 SRP555J1 SRP307J1 Image Unavailable, Please Login
