well...since you ask......the " stickie" issue is nothing more than a do it yourself job....a few hours cleaning plastic stuff....repaint and your done. cost ? $17.00 for spray paint and oven cleaner,
clutch? did it myself....super simple job and cost me $600. for the disc and some emery paper (pressure plate was in excellent condition).
belt service? engine out....did it myself....not that difficult at all....cost $1500. in parts for the t belt job (belts, waterpump rebuild, seals, tensioners, bearings, ect). There are other costs but not associated with the belt service.

I'm serious. It's time that us owners start manipulating the market rather than the dealers. 3 or 4 of us posting in that range without everyone on FChat beating them down, and we start to set a "price". It would be interesting to see if the rest of the market raises their prices in response.

But at $299,888 I had to say something just in case there was something that I was missing.

Just a quick point. The car listed for $299k is a very rare car being a manual Fiorano. Will it pull $299k? maybe not, but it should pull more than the more common F1 version.

Price things the way you want. Buyers set the market. Raise prices and the buyer pool shrinks. You see that with the way the GTB inventory has increase with the higher asking prices.

It absolutely amazes me how any owners of 355s continuously, and i mean continuously, one guy especially, berate anyone who prices their cars above what these "price police" think they should be at. My attitude, is "I hope they get it" as it is all good news. Owners who slam the sellers, figuratively shooting themselves in their foot, I just don't understand ...they must be a joy to hang around with too.

You are only half correct buyers and sellers set the market. The market is what a willing buyer and seller will transact at. I love listening to people in the real estate market say how every home they have bid on for the last year and that they have missed out was over priced. The market is determined by buyers and sellers, not just one side of the equation. No buyers at a price means the item is priced too high, no sellers at what the buyer wants to pay, the buyer has to raise what they will pay or not buy the product.

We had a family that owned 5 houses in our neighborhood list their homes for sale at $100,00 over the market price. And then one of them sold using the other four as comps. If all of the 355s for sale were overpriced the market would respond. If you want one and they are all priced more than you would like to pay you have only two options. Pay the price or look for something else.

Exactly what I am saying. 4 - 5 of us price our cars in the $130-$150K range and see what the market does. I'm not expecting my car to sell nor do I really want it to (though I would for that price!) but just interested in doing this for an experiment.

    What I predict will happen:

    1. Dealers pricing their 355's will follow suit and raise prices accordingly;
    2. We may see an overall rise in the actual selling price of the cars (308, 328 and 550's are up 40% - why not an increase in the 355?).
    3. Public perception will embrace the new priceing. The public perceives any Ferrari as being overpriced anyway and are desensitized by the astronomical auction prices announced for the rare cars.
    4. Some FChat owners, but more likely FChat bloggers who don't own one, will complain that they are all overpriced.

    BINGO.

Dealers talking prices up = I get
Dealers talking prices down = I get
Owners talking prices up = I get
Owners talking prices down = does not compute

JohnK, the fervor and persistence with which you bash 355 prices is off the charts. What is your angle? Why not hunt down the owners and sellers of of Ferrari models that have had legitimate and explosive price appreciation instead?
