Best used Ferrari for under $100k?

    I'm new so perhaps this is asked often but I'd like to buy my first Ferarri but since it's the first I'm not looking to spend a ton. Looking at $100k or less so of course this excludes the most recent models.

    Does this pretty much put me into the 360 camp or something older?

    Also I know "best" is subjective but curious to hear thoughts from others that know more.

    Best sports car, GT, classic? You haven't mentioned your desires... other than cost.

    Anyway, I'd take a nice non-red 456 over a 360.

    You will have to try them on for size. They are all very different cars. What do you want, other than "a Ferrari"? When I decided to get back in the F-car world, I chose an F355; it is arguably the "last of the old" or "first of the new". IMHO it feels smaller and more nimble than the 360.

    why not pick the car that you like for under 100K

    Plenty of them out there.

    I would pass on a 360 personally there is something out there shop around.
    you have lots of options just to get you started.

    Model, transmission and colors.

    go from there.

    There is a couple of low miles Mondials for sale in the Ferrari for sale section. You could buy the coupe and the convertible and have money left over ;)

    Although I'd say red is optional, gated 360 is all in for depreciation at this point, and having owned one, and driven an flappy paddle Challenge Stradale, I'd say, 360 Modena, any color, gated 6 speed is the way to go.

    If you're into aural gratification, nothing beats the 355. Also under $100K, but comes with more (and some are expensive) gremlins than the 360. Best sounding stock exhaust Ferrari I've ever heard.

    Yeah you will have to narrow down "best". Why do you want one? Is there a particular model you desire?

    F355 is my preference, absolutely love it.

    It will cost more to maintain than a 360 if that's one of your main considerations but not to the extent many here would lead you to believe........... :D

    Really for under 100K you have a pretty set list....that list will be cut in half if you decide if you want a 2 seater vs a 2+2.

    At that point I would argue you ask yourself which car is the most 'beautiful' to you out of that subset....that has always been my first priority for older Ferrari.

    If performance/reliability is your main priority - go with the 360...

    The reason I say go with looks first is they all are 'slow' in stock form relatively to modern cars...so buying a older Ferrari from a drag strip bragging angle is no longer relevant.

    As far as reliability, I've encountered 360 lemons and bulletproof Mondials - in the end it they call cost a certain amount of money to keep up (yes, some more then others) but be prepared... all that matters on these cars truly is how well the previous owner(s) maintained/drove their cars....

    My favorite 2 seater in that price range is the F355 (and I feel the best sounding)....you can guess what my favorite 2+2 is...

    I owned an F355 F1 GTS. car sounded great and had a Tubi. Got tired of taking it in for repairs. The 3 yr belt service is about $5k. I would get a mt GTS.

    Also owned a 360 F1 Spider with Tubi. First all aluminum modern Fcar. Noticeably more torque. Window over the engine is great. All but one repair were done at annual service. The belt service is about half around $2500. F1 much better than F355.

    Because of the repair hassle with the F355 would get a 360 with Tubi. Mt has better appreciation potential at this point...if you can find one.

    I would snatch up a 550 in a heartbeat. Classic front engine V12. Lots of power and hard to beat.

    But having recently driven my first 360 that was a LOT of fun.

    I also have a soft spot for my own 308 of course.

    Best to do what?

    For a driver, find a high-mileage 430 and have fun.

    To park in the garage, a 355 is sure pretty.

    If you want to have the most complete Magnum PI costume this halloween, a 308 GTS is your best option.

    Potential for appreciation? In truth buying four Mondials and hoping the Ferrari tide lifts all boats might be the best play.

    Driving (I don't want to park it in a garage and polish it - no offense to anyone)
    Potential for appreciation would be great which I assume would rule out 430 and some of the newer models?

    Just want to enjoy it primarily through driving it though knowing full well that I'll be losing some value to depreciation.

    If you want one to drive, find a 430 with some miles someone wants to give away for 99,999. Best combination of tech, performance and reliability in an FCar at that $.

    If your looking for a 2+2, mid engine, full open convertible, the Mondial T is amazing.

    Whichever car you choose, budget at least an additional $10k for repairs/sorting.
