Steve McQueens Lusso is serial number 4891, ordered new by him from Otto Zipper Motors on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica. He ordered it in Marrone Mettallizzato with beige interior. I have owned it since November of 1997 and have recently completed a complete restoration in August of 2005. It was featured in the November 2005 issue of Motor Trend Classic with Chad McQueen, and will be featured in an upcoming issue of Forza magazine with early photos of Steve with the car. Since it's completion it has won Platinum at Cavallino, Platinum at FCA Southwest Concourso on Rodeo, Best Sports GT 1963-72 Amelia Island Concours, Meguiars Award Best Paint Palos Verdes Concours, 1st place Irvine Concours. I will be showing it in July at the Art Center Concours and then in August at the Quail Motorsports Gathering. Regards Mike Regalia

The more I see that color on the Lusso, the more I like it! I saw it in the metal at the Greenwich Concours and it is absolutely gorgeous!

Chad, The "park" photo was actually taken at Franklin Park in Los Angeles, as part of the Motor Trend Classic Magazine article. The fall leaves were actually props added for effect. Regards, Mike Regalia / Regalia Concours Restorations

Fake leaves as props? Only man could think of an idea like that. Great addition Mike.

The red in the leaves compliments the paint and pull out the red highlights in the pigment

I have read that he briefly owned a 275 NART Spyder (modified - bumpers removed, spoiler added? Was rear-ended and totalled on PCH very shortly after he got it, then sold. He apparently wasn't happy with the car from the start anyway).

His son Chad also confirms in "McQueen's Machines" that he owned a 275 GTS like the one he reviewed in R&T. There are photos of the car in the book. Possibly burgundy.

Both of the above cars are documented in the book "McQueen's Machines".

Outside of that, there are multiple stories and photos that McQueen purchased a 275 GTB/4 that he took delivery of on the set of Bullitt. He apparently ran the Borrani wires off it several times by hard cornering. This guy (original plate but not paint. Was originally burgundy)-

Great photos, thanks. In the bottom Lusso pic, it looks like his left hand is bandaged?

Probably hurt his wrist doing some "stunt work" with Ann Margaret.

In the film Tower Heist is a rather iffy looking "Lusso" that the villain claims to be Steve McQueen's car. If someone knew even a little thing about classic Ferraris he/she would immediately see that it was not right. And. It was red too....

post #44 and 45 seem to be the car in same location, same day? just different time of day. perhaps a parking lot car gathering. notice background, tires in relationship to parking stripes.
