id be interested to know where those times were acquired and if done in period as most of the original literature said the early cars were the fasted due to power to weight and rear end options jus sayin Gary Espada 8394 etypeFHC 887465
The Bring A Trailer '64 Etype coupe just sold for $98k today: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-jaguar-e-type-fhcoupe-3-8l-series-i/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ah - no apology needed - I meant valuations are all over the place! Here's one to add - F-Chatter @Oengus just won a BAT auction for a 1964 3.8 FHC, looks like $98,000. Judging by the condition of the car (at least from the pics), that's a good price.
yea, they seem optimistic to me. I'd be more likely to say high 6's 0-60, maybe low 15's in the 1/4 mile.
I was bidding on it having a few IPA's at winking Lizard after 18 holes.....it was a little nerve racking doing it on my iPhone but all worked out well. The car came off the assembly line on the exact year month and day I was born. Couldn't let this one slip by.
Yep, I'm a sucker for those fate interventions too. Cool story on the date showing you were born at the same time! I watched that car with great interest, hope you're overjoyed with it!
nice nice nice car. shared the pics and description with my cousin who knows a bit about these cars. he said well bought. he also indicated to me that the number of fhc's his shop restores is now similar to the number of ots cars he is seeing. he thinks the coupes are the cars to acquire at these prices!! the coupes are also the prettiest if truth be told.
Looks like a nice car, but truth is, it was only well bought if there is a solid monocoque and bonnet. We all know these cars rust like nothing else and restoring an etype is all about the monocoque. I looked at the pics, look good, but, but, but. . . . . Is there rust. I hope not. As for coupes being prettier, I do agree. Would get a coupe next time for me. Regarding tires, I had original size and they do look very skinny for today. Many did the 6 inch wire wheel with 205/ 60 rubber. Filled out the wheel well and some had to chop bump stops. See if these have been mangled. Enjoy the car, they are fun and of course, gorgeous.
Chaz, Enjoy the car and put the dunlop repos on it they look great, or even panasports look fantastic. Solid wheel so much better than wires, which look great but flex and can bend.
Looking through past auctions I rarely see '74's go across the block. What would you guys peg the value of a 1 owner car with 39,000 original miles that never been touched externally or internally?
white I can't tell if they are the original wheels or the dunlop? Car won't be with me for a week or so.
For the record...If I remember correctly..only the first short year of the series 3 E types...1971 had 290 to 300 HP.. probably wasnt off the line much faster but when it came on pipe..it made the difference..by 72..it was all over..back to 260 HP. Coveted are the 71 euro versions.
Realizing that this is an original unrestored example, $185 is nuts. This car looks to be about similar condition to mine (although mine doesn't have original interior or paint, so it loses some on that), is my car worth $100K? That's a rhetorical question, but these cars are all over the place price wise!
