I just drove the GT3 Vs. Turbo at the Porsche Experience in Atl... the GT3 is an amazing car - just so fast and easy to drive fast.. amazing. the Turbo launch control is more fun - and overall its a bit more of a handful to drive.... but they are both phenominal cars... but i could not imagine driving a Gt3 on the roads here in Atlanta.. you spine would hurt! The Brakes are more amazing than anything... you can literally STAND on them -and they just stop. bam!
Our roads here in Southern California leave a lot to be desired also, but, I drive mine everyday and so far my back is fine.
I'd agree. The ride in the gt3 was actually better than I expected, better than AMG GTS by far. Broken pavement really was not an issue. The RS is even more supple. Harsh suspension sacrifices compliance, and tires bouncing don't stick. Suspension should bounce and keep tire on road. Tires need to stay stuck. Speciale and RS both incredibly useable. Need to drive RS more but the initial impression is the RS hooks up and goes with less drama and revs. Both are hard runners, but the Speciale is more dramatic. Shifts in Spec are sharper/ more violent, but minimal diff in effect. RS feels like it will do it over and over all day, and morons need not apply. Speciale will do it until it gets bored cleaning up after you. We'll see what I think after using RS more.
Disagree. RS does not try to flatter your good credit. It is a very serious car that has a job. It wasn't invented to make driver look better. It demands the driver up his game, and if you're good, it's very, very rewarding. I do not think it will cushion the blow for screw ups. New Ferraris want to make driver a hero. Porsches and old Ferraris reward the hero, and crush the dilettante. As it should be.
Melbourne Press Car. So I finally got to see the car in Lava which I thankfully really liked! Now I can't wait for December! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Apparently my helmet case/bag is arriving tomorrow..... I don't know why this excites me.... Image when the car comes???
Aren't the 2016 RS's selling for over $300k? This one is listed at $200k or is that just MSRP? So is it near impossible to get one at MSRP right now from dealer? Have to pay the $300k+ prices? 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Plano TX 11072871
Get you one ! Sounds like a deal. but wait...the fine print.. "New: Accessories and color may vary. Quoted price subject to change without notice to correct errors or omissions or in the event of inventory fluctuations."
Rob I think what happens is that with Porsche's system, when an ordered car comes in for delivery, it automatically gets listed (I don't know why they have this practice but I see it routinely). That car is likely not available, its a car ordered at that price waiting for pickup by the party who ordered it.
I would love one for $200k. which RS do you think will be most collectible long term? there is 996, 997, and 991?
In the USA, definitely the 997 GT3 RS! And any variant, 3.6 RS, 3.8 RS or 4.0 RS, it really doesn't matter, the 997 will always be the Last Manual Gearbox Rennsport car for the road. Truly enjoyable, a beautiful shape, relatively rare, super-reliable, and they make an amazing sound. King of the road or track. Just go back through the thread and be inspired.
This will be interesting: several Porsche clients here in Europe have confirmed to me that Porsche will deliver 600-800 GT3 cars with manual gearbox to its most loyal buyers. Every dealer is to get 1-3 cars. The name of the car is 911R and it will commemorate 50 years of 911R (1967). The car will have the 3,8 GT3 or the 4,0 GT3 RS engine, but it won't have an abundance of spoilers. The car will have a retro interior and maybe some lightweight parts. Porsche has not communicated the car but all units are sold. The first units will be delivered fall next year, so model year 2017. more info (in Dutch) www.vierenzestig.nl Erik
Definitely the 997.2, considering all of its competition had already moved on to automated gearboxes.
