Max vs. Lewis

Dumb? That would be declaring that Max is ready to wipe the floor with Vettel after a career best finish of 4th.

BTW - Vettel wiped the floor with everyone today.

 

That's why I replied to the post from st@vens.

People get all exited about a kid who just stepped into F1 and they straightaway imagine he is going to dominate.

I have seen it all before ...

This early, generally rookie, stage is then very often followed my loud howls that <name> is the next coming, and the Scuderia are *stupid* for not hiring him right the **** now!......

The kid looks "promising" IMO. No more as yet.

Ferrari cars will be world champs again...maybe even next year....and the guy at the helm, vettel will add WDC #5. Verstappen ? He may never get a WDC.

The Mercedes dominance is evident, with or without Singapore. If it continues next year, Vettel has as much chance winning the WDC as Verstappen does; none.

 

Mercedes will not dominate for ever ...

 

If Mercedes continues to dominate next year it won't matter because the audience will be gone.

 

If Mercedes dominates because they do a better job than the others, I have no problem with that. It happened in the past with Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, etc...
But domination comes to an end soon or later when the opposition finally catches up .
So, unless one is particularly hostile to a dominant team, there is nothing to worry about.

 

It's great that VerstaPPen has so many supporters already in his short career. Even SKY recently compared drivers based on social media status.

Rule changes....Mercedes and Ferrari Locking horns....Verstappin with new motor maker....good luck....sucking wind with Honda near the end of the pack. I do appreciate your enthusiasm for a teenage driver though...

 

I have to say, I was a massive critic of bringing the guy in with so little experience. He has surprised me, and has shown some very good racing skill. He has also, however, shown a lot of immaturity, he hasn't caused too much carnage, but he is very raw. The guy still has a lot to learn, and it will depend on how this is nurtured as to whether he proves to be the new 'messiah' in f1. He has a chance, but may yet burn out.

I think he will show well in a year or two in a top drive, but anyone thinking of him will need to tie him into a contract now and pay money for the 'prospect' with no guarantees. Ricciardo would be my choice if I was looking for younger talent, already proven, already exciting, and just lacking a car to challenge regularly.

I'm not so sure Ferrari or another top team will be taking a chance just yet on a guy still popping his spots in the mirror and waiting for his voice to break for the big bucks environment and pressure they thrive on

 

Exactly my opinion!

Ricciardo is fast, enthusiastic but level-headed at the same time.

He has also proven he can deliver the goods.

The guy deserves a good drive to challenge for the title in future, and I hope he gets it.

 

Max is the real deal - with proper development, he's got huge promise. Already this year, I think he's in the top 3 drivers in late braking ability - he is simply amazing at overtaking into braking zones. He rarely locks up, rarely runs wide or long - really, really gifted.

The other two? Hamilton is one - despite the Hamilton haters, Lewis is genuinely brilliant under braking, and has made many amazing passes by outbraking his opponent. He rarely outbrakes himself, and is very good at estimating when a move is possible and then going for it.

Ricciardo is the other, although he has outbraked himself a few too many times this year, but at least he's going for it. Last year, he was brilliant to watch, going for outbraking moves and usually making them stick.

 

+1...I like Max but to consider him among the greats at this point is at the very least "premature".

 

Eddie Jordan set him lines to do in detention after the race 'I must not ignore daddy's orders' 100 times, and he can't watch TV any night this week after school and has to finish his homework before bed. That'll teach him for not letting lil Carlos thru!

 

Red Bull/TR already absolved him of all responsibility:

That statement is no more than an effort to smooth things over for the public. What they are saying is that the team made a mistake in asking Verstappen to let Sainz through, but that doesn't make it right for Verstappen to ignore the order. What are they going to do when/if he ignores an order that is really important?

 

Oh I agree - I think it's a crap statement, but just wanted to share it. Sainz is the ***** boy at TR unfortunately. I like Sainz and hope he has a career after TR.
