If you were Alonso would you look for a better team?

  1. Yes. This is a waste of what's left of his career

  2. No. McLaren will come back. Give it time.

  3. No. Count the money and go home.

  4. Yes. Even a little less cash is still a lot of cash.

Knowing where Mac/ Honda are now and how far they have to go to even be remotely competitive in a World Championship, would you find a way to leave a $40m/ year contract and go with another team given you're nearing the end of your career?

I voted yes, "titting about uselessly at the back" as Sniff put it, is a waste of his talent.

That said, the better team he finds may not be in F1. Maybe he really does need to go have a long lunch with Mark Webber and think about WEC.

Alonso has nothing to loose sticking with McLaren-Honda.
They may come good and his career could be relaunched.

There are not many seats available to him (Do you know any?), so throwing his toys out of the pram would mean retiring on the spot.

Staying put and wait for the car to become better is his only safe option, I think.

    NO seats available.

I would say to them that if the car is rubbish again next year, Mclaren should allow him to race Le Mans.

He could buy a seat in a F1 with what he's paid this year from Mclaren. >_>

Do you think he is saving to buy himself a seat?

I think that would be the last think a champion like Alonso would do.

All his career he has been paid to drive, handsomely, and now you would expect him to put his hand in his pocket to buy himself a drive?

I can see him maybe jumping to Renault but that's still a "lateral gamble" compared to Mac. What can be worse for Alonso than milking the $40 mil to drive a McHonda that might transform from a pumpkin to a contender?

I voted yes. I don't think he will last second half of 2016. I gotta feeling either Red Bull, or heck..Renault..which is why he's already starting to convince them to start a works team.

The one pushing for a Renault works team is Prost, who sees himself as the future principal. He has been active behind the scene to see that happening.

I doubt if they would take Alonso back: he has aged and demands too much money now.
Renault is traditionally parcimonious with its budget. Also, going back to Renault for the ... 3rd times, after having spent 2 stints at Mclaren would make Alonso look like the eternal come-back kid!

I think the Renault team, if it matarialises, will be looking for new talents, cheap and ...French.
That's what the French media asks for.

but not a seat that will get him a title. So it's utterly pointless. Swapping one slow team for another.

Don't forget that he is apparently paid $40m per to drive for McLaren .

    That's worth considering ...

I think it will be a long while before McLaren are competitive again and Alonso cannot afford to wait around if he really is serious about more titles.

With the combined minds of McLaren and Honda they should at least be mid-pack by now and they can't even get to the end of a race! I keep hearing about how much progress the team has made but I'm just not seeing it; they are as unreliable as they were in Melbourne and nearly as slow.

Alonso needs to RUN from this team. It would be nice to see him at RedBull with Ricciardo and possibly a Ferrari PU.

It may be Alonso and kyvat, and ricci off to Ferrari in part payment for engines yet, or kyvat to Ferrari and ricci staying........ Kimi only has an annual renewing deal
