It would be nice to see him end his career on a high note. Not possible with McLaren this year.

Button outscored Hamilton during the 3 years they were together at McLaren.

That says a lot about how a brillant driver he is.

It's a pity if he leaves now at a low ebb, rather than competing at the top.

16 years is a long career in F1.

Vastly underrated driver and a top guy. HATE to see him leave, especially on this note.

One of my favorites and a class act.

I hope he signs for 2016 and McLaren-Honda find some performance. However, given that he seems to be expected to keep taking pay cuts while Alonso earns vastly more than he does wouldn't leave him with a lot of loyalty left to McLaren. It's clear that their continued woes are no fun whatsoever for either top-tier driver, just puttering around at the back of the pack with the backmarkers.

I wonder if he'll follow Mark Webber to WEC for 2016. If he does leave F1, it'd soften the blow to still see him somewhere like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Source inside factory said that Button signed on for 2016 months ago. Will be sad if things have changed and that they're dropping him (or has he changed his mind?).

In any case he'll do well at Le Mans. Definitely has the head for it and the speed.

I have never heard Button showing any interest in endurance racing.

I think that if he retires, it will be for good.

I hope he makes it to the WEC, in a top team. That'd make me very happy. I like Jenson, and think he is a pretty good driver. Like Massa, he is highly dependent on the right circumstances, but a nice guy, fair racer, and quick. I still remember that race in Canada, 2011, when he drove from the back to take the win from Vettel. Amazing driving, that day.

Can you blame him? Last year's "negotiations" to keep him around were a travesty. Why go through that again?

Good solid driver who caught lightning in a bottle in 09. With this crap car and Ron Dennis, why bother sticking around? Good for him.

He was pretty salty and hilarious in the car in Singapore. I think at one point they asked him to pop out of the draft as much as possible because the car was hot. His reply was something along the lines of, "would you also like me to pat my head and rub my belly?". LOL!

Sucks he finished his career in a total turd of a car. I would have thought Haas would at least give him a look a la David Beckham in the MLS. Great spokesman and obviously has a lot of development experience.

I see him going to the WEC series and i believe the next one who is going to follow is Alonso.

I like Jenson, but best case scenario...
Button to WEC in a competitive car.
    Kevin Magnussen to Haas F1.
Stoffel Vandoorne to McLaren where he gives Alonso fits in a redux of 2007.

Nice to see JB has so many fans here. Underrated, class act. I would hate seeing him go out after such a sour season.

Not sure where you got that first bit of info from. Lewis outscored him in two of the three seasons they were teammates (2010 and 2012) with only 2011 being the year Jenson scored more points (270 to 227 pts).

Totally agree. This will be F1's loss if he goes. I so hoped Bottas would leave Williams and Button moved there alongside Massa. This would be my dream team.

Button leaving Brawnro join McLaren just after winning his WDC, that was a mistake.

Now, he would have collected 1 or 2 more WDCs with Mercedes.
