As a qp-1 owner and enthusiast, I am always happy to see another car restored. I don't think I have ever seen this color. Very cool! Good luck with the rest of the restoration!

Sometimes, even our beloved Maserati papers and /or our originality obsession MUST yield to considerations of good taste and simple elegance.

Solid BLACK, or oxblood (as suggested above) would be stunning.

Tan will be an embarrassment to anybody with a modicum of good taste.

    Regards.

    PS Gorgeous car....(subject to above)

I like. Mine has a tan interior gun metal grey exterior on one. The other blew with a red interior. Another sliver with a red interior😀

    Please...

Tan interior with gun metal gray is lovely.

Try posting something relevant to this topic.
I simply expressed an opinion about that particular color combination.

Just wrapping up a bottle of Macallan 18 which explains why I am in such a good mood...

Can lead one to water, can't make him drink it...

Nosy here. Is this complete restoration costing less than $50,000? I can handle, ' none of my business'

Great looking car. Worth every penny invested, far too few good restored QP1s are out there....

Yes, great restoration on a good basis. According to www.tipo107.com, the source for everything about the Quattroporte Tipo 107, there are quite a few restored Quattroporte out there. If you take a closer look at the registry, you will find that at least 12 Series I have been restored, 7 of them as a nuts & bolts resto, additionally, at least 4 are currently under restoration (and these are all n&b). At least 66 Series 2 cars have been restored, and of those, at least 27 in a nuts & bolts way. There are at least 15 Series 2 cars currently under restoration, nearly all of them are nuts & bolts restorations (this doesn't include this 1968 4,7 car, as it was not necessary to take it completely apart). Of those cars under restoration, to be mentioned specifically are a complete restoration of one of the 5 fire tenders (alone 2000 hours for the bodywork) and the restoration of 2028 which can be followed on the website: 2028

If you take the total production number of QPs of roughly 800 (depends on the source) and we talk about close to 80 restored cars, then we have a ratio of up to 10%. I think when you compare these numbers to the restoration percentage of other Maseratis (e.g. 3500, Ghibli etc.) then we are really in a lower percentage bracket with QPs. This is for sure closely connected to QPs often beeing used for other Maserati restorations and the relatively low value of good cars compared to the other Maseratis. Thats why i mentioned that we have too few for my taste, because QPs are easily among the most beautiful fast limousines of the 60s. Any Mercedes is quite boring in comparison, isn't it? :)

In the esteemed opinion of the classic Maserati cognoscenti community (!), what is an original / restored QP1 worth in todays market?
    cheers,

The days of the really cheap ones are gone.
Original ones are 60 000 € in good nick, albeit this one, http://tipo107.com/Maserati107/107.2000-2250/Seiten/2112.html , the Aga Khan's mother's one, needed a complete restoration, it was sold (?) twice this year, at 45 000 £ and at 50 000 £, so more than 70 000€ (if it really sold).

This one seems to be in better condition, at 54 000€:
    http://tipo107.com/Maserati107/107.2252-2500/Seiten/2364.html

This one, for instance, is for sale at 65 000 USD, but it is obvious that it is a neglected, in many respects non original car. The asking price will hardly be matched.
    http://tipo107.com/Maserati107/107.1000-1200/Seiten/1006.html

Restored ones are around 100 000 €, this one is now at 110 000, changed dealer's hands, next dealer added 15 000€:
    http://tipo107.com/Maserati107/107.2000-2250/Seiten/2198.html

    This one is 100 000:

    http://tipo107.com/Maserati107/107.2000-2250/Seiten/2098.html

on www.tipo107.com, among 470 listed cars, you'll see some more cars with price tags.

In 2006 I purchased two. $10,000 ea. Both ran, sort of. Needed everything. I sold one to Germany in 2013 for $12,000. Still have the other one #56 now in pieces. March 2014 for $31,000. Bargain of the century. 25,000 miles showing. Maserati show car at Paris 1964. I still have it. Waiting for a shop I can afford. Cars are scheduled to go in next month
