Forgive me in advance...I've tried searching here, and even Google searches...I cannot locate the thread that provided a detailed description of how to repair the center console sag on the 308's (below the gauge cluster). It had pictures and everything!!! Which I need as I'm very simple...I remember searching "308 center console sag" in the past and it came right up. I even bookmarked it...but my bookmarks are gone!!! Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've out a wooden block under there to support it.

I have a hypothesis that overtightening the screws in the ash tray causes the sag under the gauge cluster. But once the damage is done (over much time) I'm not sure that straightening the bracket under the ash tray alone will resolve the sag.

Injected cars are leather... They shrink especially in hot sunny areas and warp the panel. I've notice he early carb cars aren't as bad perhaps they were wrapped in vinyl ?

I cut a length of smal square tubing to bridge from one side of the inside console to the other, braced it in place with wood clamps so that it raised the sag back to straight and then glued the two ends of the tubing to the fiberglass console with large blobs of epoxy glue.

I think it is more from differences (construction inaccuracy) in the height of the top of gearshifter box and the underside of the console. The screws need to be done up tight or else the shifter gate is loose.

I used the wood block too. I cut it at a slight angle to make a wedge so I could adjust the height at installation. I was going to glue it in place, but it was so tight I just left it unglued. That was 8 years ago. It still hasn't moved.
