Looking at the result of a single mirror sold by auctionata I'm wondering what a right hand drive car would be worth bearing in mind there are probably less than 10 percent of the original cars were built rhd less the 80 were produced and probably a lot less survive

Yeah, I haven`t seen a RHD at auction in the UK for ages - and I think the last one was something like 132k GBP for a 12k miles car back then.

At that time I think a Euro LHD was worth about 2/3rds of a UK RHD - so if the same situation is true now, then you may be looking nearer 200k GBP for similar mileage / condition to the auctionata flying mirror but UK RHD at an auction.

The Coys LHD Euro `85 that went for 98K GBP was a good buy if they can find the parts to put it back to single mirror (assuming the rest of the car is good)!

So it seems Testarossas are worth more in UK/EU than US
    512 TR around the same
512Ms worth more in the US than UK/EU

Wonder how much import export is going on?

But the cars are not the same, are they? US cars have all kinds of safety and emissions bits that hard for EU cars to replicate. And EU buyers wary of buying a car with US equipment they don't need to have and garages here don't have experience of.

Maybe this is getting less important, especially in the US to Europe direction? Lots of classics end up doing this. Thoughts?

Most UK buyers want an RHD car. Looking at, say, Autotrader, LHD cars start at £100k and RHD cars start at £130k. These are the figures for higher mileage, poorer cars. For more desirable examples, the gap widens to as much as a £50k premium.

Sure. 30 % give or take has always been the RHD premium in the UK. What I meant was, of the testa/TR/M dynasty, the Testa commands a premium on the old world side of the Atlantic, the TR seems to be around the same price either side, and Ms (by which I mean the 75 plated US Ms with the seat belts and other equipment fitted by factory/FNA) seem to command a significant like for like premium on the western side of the ocean over their identical counterparts here.

Though, I do know a very nice four-digit mileage (in miles) UK RHD F512M sold off market via a big dealer here in the UK last week for 405,000 GBP. I looked at the car myself, rosso/crema and pristine and original (though no carbon seats).

Does anyone here think an 85 flying mirror, red/tan 10k miles, mint, I mean mint condition, needs it's engine out service, is worth 165k ?

That's exactly my way of thinking!

If you can't then it's time to buy.

Are we talking a euro car at 165k euros or a US car at 165k$?

Either way if mint it sounds a real good buy - and if it's a euro car in europe then that's an absolute bargain compared to the most recent auction results....

It's incredibly low miles for a Flying Mirror.
