Hi, I am becoming a bit obsessive about the stripes. On a recent visit to a showroom I was looking very carefully at the quality of the Ferrari factory painted stripes. I found it difficult to find a perfect car, some had imperfections in the sharpness of the line, especially when the stripe wrapped round a contour, say into the windscreen channel. The flatness of the stripe also varied with some being completely flat, others slightly raised, all genuine factory finishes. Is this shared amongst other owners and has anyone rejected a car due to the quality of the stripe?

I am not obsessive about paint quality, but with mine I'm absolutely satisfied. No complaints, including the stripe...

Less than perfect paint jobs are somewhat of a Ferrari hallmark it seems. "Paint correction" seems to be a popular service among buyers of new Ferraris, but I've actually just accepted it for what it is.

My 2008 Scud stripe was perfect. I understand they are hand painted, probably using some type of template to help the alignment. I had triple red paint as well and the quality was perfect to my eye. My new 458 has the usual paint issues but it hasn't affected the sound yet...

The stripe on my Speciale is less than perfect, I have white over spray from the outline on the nose of the car, under the clear coat.

Im sorry but thats just bull that you have over spray on your car. I know Ferarri is known for lousy paint job but that is rediculous. We are paying 200k plus for a car, the paint shold be flawless. I think ferrari needs to start coming through with better paint jobs.

You'll never see Ferrari asleep at the switch. Their quality control is second to none :-j take a close look at the stripe on the roof compared to the stripe on the rest of the car :)

Yes :) but Ferrari didn't catch the problem. The owner had to point it out :)

I noticed overspray of my NART stripe in the roof channel between the engine cover and the roof. IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME AT ALL. THE STRIPE ON THE EXTERIOR IS PERFECT TO MY EYE. PLUS I KIND OF LIKE KNOWING THAT AN ITALIAN HAD A GENUINE HAND IN THIS HANDBUILT CAR. THE FACT THAT IT IS IMPERFECT MAKES IT EVEN MORE SPECIAL TO ME. MAYBE I'M JUST LOOKING AT THE SILVER LINING! Apologies for CapsLock

I like the way you think. I agree.

When I ordered a stripe on my Stradale in 2003 I was told it was hand painted which is why it was a $5,000 option. It was a little disappointing to learn that it was actually a graphic under the clear coat. Still looks great though :) but I am glad to know that stripes on Speciales are actually paint.

Interesting to hear people experiences and views, I am looking to change the colour of my scuderia stripe and am less concerned about the ability of the spray shop I am using to do the work, I wrongly assumed the factory stripe was absolutely perfect.

Interesting, I think the Spider top must have been painted separately before assembly, at least if you did that with one of ours, you could just take it off and do it again. :)
