    I'm curious.

For those of you selling. What are you replacing it with?

My '95 red/tan gated GTB sold for $75k on this site within 24 hours.
The car is a solid driver with all of the major issues addressed (guides, headers, etc.)

Mint, low miles (under 20k) garage queens in near-perfect condition? I'd have to think they're worth more like $90k +

I think the black/black 3-pedal GTS described earlier is probably in the 70k range as well.

I'm not really seeing anything in the 40-60k range that isn't really rough with a list of issues.

I am talking about GTB/GTS values. Spiders seem to be a little softer.

I bought it in April and have put 21k KM on it..my cars don't sit.
In 21k KM total money spent.

Had to get right side rad rebuilt <leak> $475.00
    Had the starter rebuilt $165.00
    two oil/filter changes $230 x 2
    A few relay's $9.95 each
I do all my own labour so that was Zero.
I did spend about 5k on gas ...lol
Murcielago's are great cars if you drive them..boy are they fast.
I will have to spend 2k on new tire's soon for next year.

Absolutely true. IMHO While there is clearly a "market price range", it also generally applies to "the average market car", with these cars there seem to be few absolutes. I'm still learning about 355's, but they are old enough and individual cars have diverse enough histories that, while there is an average price, there are few average cars.

I'm sure there are some that are overpriced; on the other hand, there are some <5K mile cars out there that have 1) been perfectly maintained 2) had all the right upgrades (exhaust, guides, stickies) done well and 3) have been used just enough to keep everything working. I know, we found one - and it was never advertised. (99 GTB 6sp, Challenge Grille, Red Calipers, Pozzi over Red/Blue)

People will pay a premium for a specific car they want, and probably a bit more if it's a car sensitive to condition and care that has had all the work verifiably done well. Few? absolutely.

But they are out there. Considering you could spend $20K on carbon bits for a new F12, a $20K spread to buy a "perfect" 355 isn't much if that's the next Ferrari you want. All relative. Of course, few will want to spend way above market to have to undertake a project....

Those in the know, know that a vert is never EVER going to be worth as much as a GTS or the king GTB. If you paid more you lost. Sorry but the numbers don't lie. Those in the know??...I do not think anybody knows that..Including you..Unless you have a crystal ball??..Did you know this 5 years ago??.. First off the GTS as you know was a much rarer car than both, but also known for issues with tops creaking and leaking as well as being less rigid than even the spider, but still was always going for more or at least as much as a spider due to rarity..Numbers do not lie..Yes I agree,, and they did not in the past did they?? and most of the 355s life either where the vert was always more than the B"s and this is just a USA thing RIGHT NOW not global.. There was a noted low availability prices went up, but now a lot more on the market all the time, so there are a lot of factors to this..If they were always or for the past 10 years going for more than the verts I would tend to agree, but time will tell all..And who knows maybe you are right, but also maybe very wrong.. I'm not so sure and nobody is truly in the know!!..If you want to think you are have fun with it!!

All you have to do is look at the euro market to see that in Europe spiders, GTS and GTB are largely overlapping in asking prices. It is a US thing because the US was primarily a spider market at the time, and still is.

So no reason to wonder why Spiders most of the 355s life here were more than GTB's..Then what reason would too believe that this will hold up over time with so many now hitting the market as well??..all I know is I would be very cautious if I was buying a GTB at these levels....And also how many people honestly are really looking to pay that much for one as well??.. it limits the amount of buyers..It has too!!

The statement that there is a lot of range/relative variability in percentages of asking and sale prices for comparable 355s is true- more so than most other used cars at this price point. In other words, two 1987 911s with say 80,000 miles would be more similar in price on average if they were similar condition, whereas two 1997 355s with 30,000 miles could be very different if one was in need of belt service, stickies, F1, no options and the other was fully serviced/optioned stick.

Using my own car as an example ('97 spider), with just under 21k miles it just had the belt service and valve guides completed by a Ferrari dealership when I bought it last winter. In my mind that put its "value" higher than a comparable mileage/condition car due for belt service with original valve guides. To further widen the gap, I spent over $10K on the following: challenge grill, rebuilt steering box, new CV joints, new hyperflows and nice condition pre-owned tubi, repaired stickies, misc interior items (new shifter knob, floormats, one A/C vent, power window switches, ash tray), metal cavallino fender shields (i-venturi), new wheel caps. So I would expect the delta of the "value" of my car to another 355 with same miles but none of the work/upgrades and in need of a belt service would be considerable, not just $1-2K.

You can't race a convertible on the track.

A lot of race purists ONLY want a hard top. THAT is where THAT comes from.. ;)

i Know what you are saying, but it Does not mean ****!!..Where were the purists a couple years ago??. They did not exist??.. Your car by the way really is not for purists either because its a GTS a Grand touring SPIDER..

Do we really need this nonsense again? Wasn't Robbs thread enough?

They are all undervalued in my opinion. Spiders, GTBs and GTS.

Enjoy the cars gentlemen. The markets are moving in our favor. No need to bash one model or another. They are all 355s. :)

Mechanic said my headers are fine- I have OEM headers, not sure if they were ever replaced (the mechanic in CA that did the PPI seemed to think they may have been replaced already in the past)- hopefully they hold up.

By the way, I just re-read my prior post- I replaced the CV boots, not the CV joints...

Overall, with 355s, the devil is in the details of the individual car you are contemplating buying when determining a fair value/price. That's the case with all cars, but more so with 355s (and Ferraris in general)

CV boots can be had for around $10 each.

Spiders have been cheaper since I've been following the market (2006ish to present).

'Top goes down price goes up' does not apply to the F355.
