2010 model. Everytime i push the start button it hesitates to fire up, it is usually on second attempt that she fires up. Can anyone shed some light onto this as to wether this is due to faulty starter motor and has anyone had this problem on early car and expensive to fix

Is your foot firmly on the brake when you start?

Do you use the battery tender when not driving?

These cars are very sensitive to low battery issues.

Happened to me. It was always me not applying enough pressure on the brake.

I firmly press the pedal and i had the battery changed yesterday but the problem consist and i think the starter motor is catching and struggles to fire up right away. I hear you can exchange the original one from the car for a re-con one in uk atleast.

did you resolve the AVH/Mannettino/Airbag issues you cited in a separate thread?

Agree with prior posts, seems the most common issue with the starter not engaging when you push the button is the brake switch lockout. if you had fuel or spark issues, you'd have quite a few alarms going off, unless all your coils suddenly went bad

What I think you posted is not that the starter isn't cranking, but the engine is not catching.

If you (still) have the other error codes and now the start issues, I'd make sure you have a clean diagnosis before swapping starter motors. However, from your description of the issue it's unclear if it's electrical, the starter, or something delaying the engine catching.

FWIW if you still have the AVH/Park issue, remember the engine won't want to fire unless it senses the car is in Park or Neutral.
